Brooke
I’ve come from a privileged life and an even more privileged upbringing. My parents taught me right from wrong and everything in between… except I wanted the gray area. I wanted to live life on the edge with the possibility of falling over. I didn’t care about the consequences because I had no heart…
I left that on the floor of my parents’ bedroom door, shattered.
And never went back to pick up the pieces.

Devon
Family first.
I learned the meaning of the word hate.
I learned that life is a battlefield and I stood frontline.
I learned that praying doesn’t work and God doesn’t listen.
And I learned how to be a man…
All at the receiving end of my father’s fists, my mother’s tears, and my sisters screams.
You can’t run away from your past…
It will always find you, especially when you’re asleep.

Warning: Book contains adult situations.
Sex/language. Mature readers only.

This is one of those books that on the surface seems pretty cut & dry, she is a high class hooker & he is a broken lonely man looking for who knows what.

But this is far from the case with this book. Once you start reading this book you will be drawn in & hooked to the point you can’t put it down.
At times it was like a train wreck, you know what is going to happen but you just can’t tear your eyes away & at other times it was so emotional I was reaching for a box of tissues.

I think what I liked about this book is that the characters are older & their life experience shines through like a bright light.
Devon has literally been to hell and back. I’m not going to spoil it and tell you what happened, but honestly I’m surprised he is able to function on any level, but he does. He runs a successful business & supports his mother & siblings financially & emotionally.
He pushes his own demons aside so he can provide for his family, including his small son.
Brooke grew up wanting for nothing, if money could buy it she could have had it. Her parents loved her & her sisters & they spoilt them rotten. Then at the age of 16 she realises her life & family are not what she thought. Her world as she knows it has been turned on its head & she doesn’t know how to cope. So she goes on the defensive & her life takes a turn in a completely different direction. She tells herself she is happy & settled & no one will ever have the power to hurt her.

Then Devon & Brooke meet & neither of them will ever be the same again.
Their story is raw, it is emotionally devastating. These two people have the power to destroy not just themselves, but each other. These two don’t have a clear road to a happy ending, there are so many hurdles & obstacles they have to overcome, but given their individual past’s it is a huge question mark as to whether they are capable of leaving their past’s behind & moving towards a  future they both don’t even know they want but both so desperately deserve.

P’S there is a LOT of sex in this book so if that offends you, you may want to give it a miss. If you like reading stories where there is lots of sex but underneath is a stunningly deep story line than I highly recommend you check this one out!

Tempting Bad is a very dark and tough book to read, if you get what I mean. It wasn't hard to get through. In fact, the writing was very engaging while the plot was well thought out. But what I mean when I say tough, was that it was difficult for me to accept or stomach the situations and events that took place in the book. I'm not going to sugar coat it for you. Some of the scenes made me uncomfortable and violated, especially the raw and sexual parts. But when you look at it from a far or as a whole picture, it fits. Brooke and Devon felt real and believable. The whole story felt real, as though it was their story no matter how wrong or right it felt.
With that said, the story and characters were in point and strong in this book but they make quite too many mistakes or wrong decisions at times. And that's perfectly normal but I was uncertain with how the plot was going to go. My favourite part of the whole novel was the epilogue, definitely. Perfect.

4.5 Stars

I was there, but I wasn’t.
I danced around in a sea of emptiness and longing, it moved around me easily, carelessly, harshly.
It was all and it was nothing.
It made me full and it made me empty.
It pleased me and it dismayed me.
I didn’t care. I was there to do a job. To be a VIP. I played my part beautifully, just as I always did. Letting myself get taken away on empty promises of nothing, but somehow seemed like everything.

M. Robinson loves to read. She favors anything that has angst, romance, triangles, cheating, love, and of course sex!
