The Saint by Tiffany Reisz ~ REVIEW

Titles: The Saint by Tiffany Reisz
Release date: June 24th

About The Saint by Tiffany Reisz:

Before she became Manhattan's most famous dominatrix, Nora Sutherlin was merely a girl called Eleanor…
Rebellious, green-eyed Eleanor never met a rule she didn't want to break. She's sick of her mother's zealotry and the confines of Catholic school, and declares she'll never go to church again. But her first glimpse of beautiful, magnetic Father Marcus Stearns—Søren to her and only her—and his lust-worthy Italian motorcycle is an epiphany. Eleanor is consumed—yet even she knows being in love with a priest can't be right.
But when one desperate mistake nearly costs Eleanor everything, it is Søren who steps in to save her. When she vows to repay him with complete obedience, a whole world opens before her as he reveals to her his deepest secrets that will change everything.
Danger can be managed—pain, welcomed. Everything is about to begin.

Ok, I am a bit conflicted about this book. In The Saint we meet Eleanor (Elle or Nora), Soren (Father Stearns), Kingsley (King) and Nico.
If by writing this story the author wanted to get the reader to think outside the square, that goal is certainly achieved!!
I think from the authors point of view and certainly from Eleanor’s point of view this is a beautiful love story that began with Eleanor & Soren, but by the end it included Kingsley & Nico as well.
As a reader, I found the complexity of the relationship’s  fascinating. Like every 15 year old, Eleanor wants what she wants and she wants it now. She doesn’t want to wait & doesn’t see why she should have to. She has a religious mother and a criminal father. She feels like she has an instant connection to Father Stearns because he takes the time to listen to what she has to say. When her father lands her in trouble, it is Father Stearns that comes to her rescue. Her relationship with her mother is contentious at best, although her mother really does love her.
Soren has a very dark past. He had a difficult childhood and did was never truly happy or at peace until he joined the priesthood. He is also secretly a sadist, in the true sense of the word. Then there is Kingsley. He is a good time bloke who likes to be friends with everyone. He also has a dark side that you see a little bit of in this book. His house is the place to go for any type of BDSM activities you would like to experience.  I think in this book he is Eleanor’s only real friend.

In this book it is an adult Nora who is looking back and telling her story to Nico, who turns out to be Kingsley’s son that he never knew he had. It is interesting to see how she tells her story & although I may not agree with her view point it was very well written & it opened my eyes to how different everyone’s lives are & how we all see things very differently. At the beginning of the book Nora has gone to Germany to say a final goodbye to someone she loves dearly & scatter their ashes. But it won’t be who you think it is., This book has lots of little twists & turns that will keep you on your toes all the way through.
Here is where I am conflicted…

As a mother, my reaction to this book is that love story aside, when you get down to the bones of it, this is a 29 year old catholic priest that started to groom Nora into his BDSM lifestyle from the age of 15 when they first met. Although they didn’t actually have sex until she was 20 years old, he was grooming her for it from the age of 15. He played Mind games with her (Mind F*** is the correct term I believe) from the start. Any parent would have a huge issue with this & I believe that had Nora’s mother been aware earlier on what was happening she may have done something about it. But, by the time she realised her daughter was in a sexual relationship with the local Catholic Priest it was too late for her to do anything about it. Neither Nora’s mother or father had a clue because they both wiped their hands of her in the same time period the new priest came along. It doesn’t matter which way you look at it, she was a vulnerable 15 year old girl & the 29 year old priest took advantage of her.

In saying that, the book is really well written & it does hold shock value. It does open your eyes to what really goes on in the world (even though it is a work of fiction). This stuff really does happen. Although I found it uncomfortable & confronting to read, I would still rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars because it really made me think outside the square & try to see things from Eleanor & Soren’s point of view. It is a story that shows not everything in life is black and white.

We are all born pure; it is our journey that burdens us and leads us astray. Our mistakes that beat us down and cover us in guilt and shame, burying us a little more with each passing hardship. It is up to us to dig ourselves out, to come to terms with our faults, to embrace not only our imperfections but those of the ones we love, and to once again find the path we strayed from.

Falling Stars by JL Brooks ~ PROMO TOUR

We are so excited for this Promo Event for J.L Brooks' Falling Stars Volume #1.

Drugs, Sex, & EDM

It had all the makings of a perfect plot, and for bestselling author Lila Keaton-it was a hedonistic past she kept hidden far away. Many nights were spent crossing the velvet rope, dancing until dawn and bedding one of the worlds biggest DJ’s, Hunter Michaels AKA Arial Assault.

When Lila’s agent uncovers her thrilling secret, it appears as if nothing is off limits when it comes to pitching the story, whether Lila wants to tell it or not. Despite knowing her reluctance is career suicide, she cannot bring herself to open her heart once more to the man who nearly destroyed it.

Given the opportunity to escape her predicament, Hunter attempts to reconcile the pain he has caused, and rekindle the passion that was abandoned long ago. When a series of events causes history to repeat itself, Lila sets off unaccompanied through out the west to test her boundaries with the sensual and surreal, and ultimately come face to face with the only thing that can keep her from falling.

“Want to take a tour? You haven’t seen anything yet.”
I nodded my head greedily, knowing I was ready for what he wanted. He led me through a maze of rooms. One held several hot tubs with writhing bodies, wet and demanding. Another, series of showers, and lovers entwined. Each room occupied with flights of fancy, except one. In a lowly lit room laid a series of chairs against a wall.

In the center was a plain king sized bed with white sheets. There were no pillows, or blankets, and mirrors covered every inch of the room.

Hunter smiled darkly while leading me into the room.
“Have you done this before?” I asked.
Part of me hoped he said no but I knew better. Surely someone so comfortable among such things had partaken in its pleasures.

“No Lila, not yet.”
His answer warmed my body in the chilly warehouse. I could give him this.
Something he had never had. Without prompting, I found my way to the bed and reached out my hand.
“Maybe it’s time?” I giggled.

I lost the love of my life when she disappeared without even a goodbye.
It was the 80’s – there was no internet, no Google, no cell phones.
If you wanted to disappear, you could.
And she did.
She crushed my soul.
A friend just told me he saw her on Facebook.
And now I’m a keystroke away from asking her the question that’s haunted me for two decades.
“Why did you leave me?”

Two decades after she broke his heart, sexy entrepreneur Schooner Moore uncovers the truth and betrayal his life has been built on when he Facebook friend requests college love, Mia Silver. Determined to win Mia’s love once again, Schooner embarks on a life-altering journey that could cost him everything.

Continuing the fight for their happily ever after that began in Searching for Moore, Schooner Moore and Mia Silver struggle to overcome the ghosts and baggage they accumulated during their time apart.
Exploring the missing 24 years when they were separated, Moore to Lose follows Mia's journey from heartbroken teen to kickass businesswoman to her emotional reunion with Schooner and the exploration of the love that was ripped from them.
But is their love really strong enough to overcome the damage of those missing 24 years or will they continue to be ripped apart by pasts that can't be changed?

"You have no idea of what you do to me, Baby Girl."
"It's smoochal."

Is the love they always dreamed of enough?

Continuing the emotional journey of love and betrayal that began on a college campus in Searching for Moore and turned their worlds upside down in Moore to Lose, handsome, California entrepreneur Schooner Moore and sharp and sassy, New York advertising agency owner Mia Silver continue to be confronted with the harsh reality of the remnants from the lives they lived apart for 24 years.

Now, Schooner Moore and Mia Silver face the ultimate challenge - were they really meant to be together or will their pasts continue to tear them apart?

On the heels of the birth of their newborn son, Nathaniel, Schooner and Mia must decide if their love and loyalty to one another is strong enough to learn to grow together as a couple or if the life they always dreamed of sharing was better left as a teenage fantasy.

Moore To Lose by Julie A Richman (Book Two: Needing Moore Series)

Damn, this woman could bring him to his knees. There they were - both standing there, naked. Vulnerable. The truth was finally out. And if he was standing there high on the edge of a  cliff, he wasn't standing there alone anymore. Mia had joined him. She was as bold and fearless as she'd always been. This was the Mia Silver with whom he had fallen hopelessly in love.
"We're going to be ok, Mia," he reassured her. He wasn't going to allow himself to believe anything else. He could picture her shaking her head yes on the other end of the phone as he heard her trying to hide her tears. He pictured gently wiping them away with his thumb.

"You promise, Schooner?"

And as always with Mia, making a promise was so damn easy. "I promise, Baby Girl."

Rusty Nailed (the Cocktail series) by Alice Clayton - BLOG STOP & REVIEW

In this sequel to Wallbanger, fan favorites Caroline Reynolds and Simon Parker negotiate the rollercoaster of their new relationship while house-sitting in Sausalito.

Playing house was never so much fun—or so confusing. With her boss on an extended honeymoon, Caroline’s working crazy-long hours to keep the interior design company running—especially since she’s also the lead designer for the renovation of a gorgeous old hotel. And with Simon, her hotshot photographer boyfriend, gallivanting all over the world for his job, the couple is heavy-duty into "absence makes the heart grow fonder" mode. No complaints about the great reunion sex, though!

Then a trip back east to his childhood home has Simon questioning his nomadic lifestyle. He decides to be home more. A lot more. And he wants Caroline home more, too. Though their friends’ romantic lives provide plenty of welcome distraction, eventually Caroline and Simon have to sort out their relationship. Sure, more togetherness is a good thing—but does less traveling and working have to mean the other extreme? Apple pie and picket fences? With this second book in the Cocktail series, USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton delivers another delicious, frothy confection of a book, shaking up her characters, stirring in laugh-out-loud humor, and serving sizzling romance straight up!
Caroline and Simon's story continues in Rusty Nailed.  Caroline's boss is getting married and heading off on a honeymoon/sabbatical of undetermined length.  Caroline's days are filled with getting ready for the wedding and preparing for her boss to be gone for months.  Caroline got a new big project so she's got a lot to stress over.
Simon is ever the world-famous globe-trotting photojournalist.  He's never really had a serious girlfriend and has found he likes coming home to Caroline.  He likes having the freedom to travel the globe shooting pictures wherever he wants - usually he schedules shoots in tropical locations over the holidays.
Now that he and Caroline are in a real relationship they have things to work out - like where to spend the holidays or whose side to take when your friends are fighting.  Does Simon become weary of world-travel and setting down with a good woman?  As the pressures of Caroline's job start getting the better of her can Simon step-up and show Caroline that he is husband material or if he is just a wallbanger?
Alice has kept up her streak of delivering humorous and edgy reads.  Caroline and Simon are one of the cutest couples ever!  I love how he eats his zucchini bread and how he adores Clive.  Caroline and Simon's cadre of friends keep their life interesting and keep their relationship in perspective.  Here's to the wallbangers of the world who make our lives go round.

About the Author:

Novelist Alice Clayton makes her home in St. Louis where she enjoys gardening but not weeding, baking but not cleaning up after, and is trying desperately to get her long-time boyfriend to make her an honest woman--and please buy her a Bernese Mountain dog.
After working for years in the cosmetics industry as a makeup artist,
esthetician, and educator, Alice picked up a pen (read laptop) for the first time at 33 to begin a new career: author. Having never written anything longer than a grocery list, she soon found writing to be the creative outlet she'd been missing since walking away from the theater 10 years before.
She has a great time combining her love of storytelling with a sense of silly, and she was shocked and awed to be nominated for a Goodreads Author award in 2010 for her debut novels, the first two installments of The Redhead Series--The Unidentified Redhead and The Redhead Revealed. Her latest novel Wallbanger is a return to her trademark comedic erotica, or funny smut, that Alice has become known for.
Additionally, Alice loves spending time with her besties on Not Your Mother's Podcast (check them out on iTunes) and has recently partnered with actor Greg Grunberg, blogger Brittany Gibbons, and actress Keili Lefkovitz on a new travel show that will begin filming in January.
Alice enjoys pickles, Bloody Marys, eight hours of sleep and a good pounding.
