He was a pig, a jerk, selfish, callous, crude, tactless, prone to outbursts and gorgeous. The kind of gorgeous where you didn’t even attempt to hide the fact that you were staring. I knew the type: His entire life he has coasted on his good looks, artificial charm, and sex appeal. Everyone wanted to be on him or be him. I had been hurt by jerks like him before. He was like those guys but far worse. I was the unfortunate sucker to be offered a gig I desperately needed as his live-in chef for a Summer in the Hamptons. But I wasn’t like the other girls, the models and socialites who came through the revolving door of his bedroom. I would bite the bullet, take the gig, deal with his sexist comments, his expectation that I would fawn over him, and have no problem letting the door hit my ass on the way out when I was done. But then something unexpected happened that changed everything and I realized that there maybe more to him than the labels I had affixed to his character. Maybe. But if he really wanted me, it wasn’t going to be easy, not like everything else in his life. He was going to have to work, I was going to make him miserable. He was going to hate wanting me just as much as I hated myself for wanting him back. Heath Hillabrand: International Supermodel. Womanizer. Gorgeous Rotten Scoundrel.
Sadie is a chef and personal assistant to the stars. Her client, Brock, a professional NBA star just got traded to Houston; she is not following him because her Nonna needs her. Thankfully Sadie's friend, Mindy is an agent and has a client looking for a personal assistant.
Enter Heath, Mindy's client, a professional model living up the good life as seen in tabloids. He's in the Hamptons for the summer and is looking for a chef/personal assistant/party planner. From the moment Sadie lays eyes on Heath she knows he is as cocky and wild as the tabloids say he is. If she takes the job with him, she will have to bury her attraction to him deep deep down and as long as he is a Richard to her she won't have a problem. Against her better judgement, she takes the job.
The first week went pretty quickly because she was knee deep in party planning. After a few too many tequila shots with Heath at the party, they have a huge blowout. Sadie leaves and is driving back to New York when she gets the call that Heath was badly injured in a car accident. Heath broke both legs and an arm and will be laid up for a good length of time. Even though Sadie is pissed at Heath, she mans up and takes care of him.
Sadie knows this may be her only chance to learn about the man behind the facade - if there is one. The burning question is whether Heath is just another Gorgeous Rotten Scoundrel or is there more then meets the eye.
Nina's wicked sense of humor definitely come through the pages of GRS. Nina sure made Sadie's first night in the house memorable for readers. There are certain parts of GRS that will stick with me for a while - GRS is more than just a funny and flirty read - there is depth to the story. It almost restores your faith in the modeling profession. Definitely one of the best books I have read this year!
