This story was impossible to put down! There were so many twists that I was afraid I would miss something. I am loving these characters and their family bond! I am hoping that each one will get their own story (hint, hint!). Slater is just the kind of man I like to read about. Hot, tatted, protective, and all man!!! And the way he talks could melt the pants off a 90 year old nun! Piper has been ridiculed her whole life, and she is not going to take it anymore. Especially not from Slater. After progressing from casual bar hook ups to wanting to try to a relationship, they learn about the parts of each others daily lives, and Slater does not think he can handle her choice of career. After all, the system let him and his “family” down. When Piper becomes the target of his biggest rival, Slater has reality slammed in his face. Piper belongs to him and he is not letting her go.
Such a great story and loved all the twists. Can’t wait to see what is in store for this series!

This first of a new series by Evie Harper is a wild ride!
6 children lost inside the foster system. Seemingly forgotten.
Slater is the oldest at 12. Even though there's no shared blood, they are family, by choice; by heart.
One night things go horrifically wrong and Slater finds Mia, the only one of the siblings that he feels just a little more for; feels just a little different about. Slater finds her beaten bloody, staring out with blank eyes. And he knows that the monster the system left him and his siblings with had finally managed to kill. That it was Mia he couldn't protect was something Slater knew he'd never get over. As he and the others ran, Slater realized that he had fallen in love, but it had been stolen from him. By a system, by people that he vowed to hate for the rest of his life.

Piper, at 27 loves her job. She saves kids from the streets, from horrible homes. And she's good at her job too. She watches and follows through.
Piper grew up in the system. She knows how important caring and support are for kids who don't have or never had it.
One night in a local bar, a sexy man shows Piper what it feels like to have someone stand up for her.
Instant attraction and a feeling of protectiveness that he doesn't really understand, Slater and Piper begin a thing. It was supposed to be about sex and only that. But sometimes fate plays a different game.
Through street races, a border war, an old grudge, and a twist that will make you gasp out loud. Collision will take you on a journey that will stay with you and leave you wanting more.

“I’m a melted puddle. The man turned me into goo.” The scorching heat between Piper and Slater was off the charts. His world was unsure and dangerous and she was the one sure thing he had going. She came from disorganized and strived for the stability that would center her. When the two collided, it was fireworks and heat that could not be measured.
Vulnerability was an underlying theme here for all characters. Whether it is from the toughest of the men to the softest of the women. Families were built on sheer survival and not blood. Friendships grown out of faith and trust for the greater good. This book showcased the lengths that these characters would go to for one another. In all of that, they found each other once again. A love that was destined to find each other in a system that failed them both.Watching Slater and Piper develop was amazing!! The attraction was there from the first look and the feels that they both had for each other was electric. Neither one wanted anything serious, but ended up longing for each other was great to read. I liked the development and flow of this book. It wasn’t to rushed and had me captivated from the start.“God made you just for me Piper”…. I felt this all the way through this book. He lusted and she fell hard. Together the will make all things possible. I really enjoyed this book. This was my first read by Evie Harper and it didn’t disappoint. I can’t wait for the next book in this explosive series!! 4 solid stars completely!!
