Take the Fall by Marquita Valentine ~ FMR REVIEW

Fans of Abbi Glines and Katy Evans will adore Take the Fall, the first spinoff novel from Marquita Valentine’s New York Times bestselling Boys of the South series. In this emotional new romance, passions run hot as a rugged, brooding Marine rekindles an old flame.

As a teenager, Seth O’Connor went to jail for a crime he had nothing to do with. He took the fall to protect the girl he loved, but the cruel realities of prison hardened him. After doing his time, Seth shuts her out and enlists in the Marines—until his grandmother’s funeral forces him to come home and face Rowan Simmons once again. The woman she’s become puts all his high-school memories to shame, and Seth wants her more than ever. Can he be honest about why he denied her for so long?

After Seth pushed her away, Rowan swore that no man would ever hurt her again. But the boy who broke her heart has become a sexy Marine, capable of fulfilling her every desire—and now that he’s back in town, old feelings are simmering to a boil. Rowan wants to stay strong, even as her body surrenders to his expert touch. She only hopes that by taking him back, she can finally help heal the wounds that drove them apart.

Includes a special message from the editor, as well as an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

This is my first Marquita Valentine book and I really enjoyed this story.
Seth and Rowan were teenagers who doted on each other. So much so that Seth would protect Rowan and someone she loves by going to prison for a crime he did not commit.
Once his sentence was up, he had to enlist in the marines upon release. He is angry at Rowan and her older brother Jase, and blames them for all that has happened!
Seven years later, Seth is forced back to his hometown after the loss of his Grandmother, this is where he has to face Rowan again after so much time has passed. He is aware of his mistakes and his placement of blame on the wrong people and now, he wants to fight to win Rowan back!!! She is the only girl for him, always has been, always will be.
In the time Seth has been away, Rowan has grown and will not be put down by anyone. Because so many people have let her down and walked out of her life, so she does not trust easily! Therefore she does NOT let Seth back in as easy as he would like! Making him fight for her!
Piper, Rowan's best friend has been her rock and I am BUZZING for her story!
Seth and Rowan have this connection. Nothing can prevent it, not even seven years of distance!
This story is heartfelt, full of gut wrenching moments, loss, the forever kind of love and characters redeeming themselves! I could not put this book down and enjoyed everything about it! I read for feels, and Marquita Valentine has written a beautiful novel that brings the feels I crave as a reader. The message behind the book is something special. Love is forever! When you meet that someone, NOTHING can change that, no obstacles, no time, nothing!
I cannot wait to read more from this extremely talented author, and I am absolutely dying to get my hands on Piper and Jase's story! I just KNOW, it is going to Rock my World!!!!

This story is set in a Southern town in modern times where the young ones have impeccable manners and the young men know how to treat a woman…
That is right up until the part where your best friend of 23 years that you have gone and fallen in love with happens to ask you to teach her how to seduce men so she can seduce someone else!!

Brody Lawson has been in love with his best friend Sydney for quite a few years now.. And Sydney has been in love with Brody for about the same amount of time…
The whole town knows it, Even Brody’s ex-girlfriend Cherry knows it and has made it her mission to push them together. The only people that don’t know it are Brody & Sydney!!

Cherry & her sister Lemon (yes I’m serious) get together & talk Sydney into going along with their plan & it is hilariously funny, until it gets steamy hot!! The sparks that fly off this couple are scorching hot.
Things seem to be going to plan & they are getting to know each other on a whole new intimate level, but then the cat is let out of the bag & Brody finds out that the seduction lessons were all set up to get
him to fall in love with her. He doesn’t take it well.

Can Cherry get him to see sense before it is too late & he loses Sydney forever??
Get yourself a copy of this book & find out!!

This is a quick read but still has all the ingredients to make a fantastic romance story. You will laugh at Sydney, Cherry & Lemons conversations & you may need a fan when Sydney & Brody are in the room together. The story line is good & easy
to get swept up in. I read this in a couple of hours it was easy to read & I was happy to keep going until the end to see how it played out.
I have to say I was surprised when I go to the end & discovered there was another person in on the plan that Sydney didn’t know about & it is someone I would never have picked!!
This would be a fantastic   quick holiday read!

Adorable, sweet, angsty, sexy, hot as sin....seriously this book had it all! I really enjoyed this book all the way. I really like Marquita'a style and carefree approach to her writing. It's seductive and will literally suck you in from the first few pages. She has a wonderful ability to charm you with swoon and make you sweat with sexy steamy filled lust. EVERYTHING I want to read in a book!!

"You're my compass and all directions lead me straight to where I'm supposed to be." SWOON all over that! Rowan and Seth are amazing!!! They are so right for each other but so stubborn as well. That combination made the angst freak'n sizzling. They tore up the verbal banter and then ripped up the sheets. This duo made me crazy to read this book as fast as I could. You could feel the love as well as the lust which was a combination that I really enjoy reading.

I absolutely loved the secondary charters as well. The way Marquita wove in brothers, best friends, and coworkers was a magnificent compliment to the story line and character development. Everyone played an admirable role in this book that the compete ensemble made the book stunning.

I really enjoyed this book and the makings of a fantastic series. I am waiting with great anticipation for the next book and the continuation of fire Marquita has lit in me. This book did not disappoint and is a complete recommend. Easy 4 star all the way read!
