This story was a refreshing change of
pace for me. The characters are the opposite of what I normally read. Sophia
comes from a well off family and they try to control her every move. They hate
her job. And if they knew her preferences, would probably disown her. Callum is
a younger guy from the wrong side of town who just got out of jail. He has
nowhere to call his own and ends up staying with a friend. A chance meeting has
Sophia doing something reckless. She hires him to be a body guard for her for a
secret rendezvous. She is attracted to Callum and decides this is the way to
see if he likes the same things she does. She does this twice, and the second
time doesn’t go so well. Sophia and Callum act on their attraction to each
other and pretty soon he is staying with her. She likes that he is rough with
her and decides to show him a close up of her lifestyle. Callum takes to it
like a fish to water. He is everything that she has been looking for. But when
her sister pays her a surprise visit, things don’t go so well for Callum. He
leaves thinking that Sophia is ashamed of him and doesn’t want to be with him
anymore. Sophia has her work cut out for her in trying to win him back, but he
is worth it.
Most of the time the male character is
the one with the money, while the female is the poorer character. And you have
to deal with all the gold-digging drama to get to the love. Callum is dirt
poor, but he has a dream and with some help from one of Sophia’s friends, turns
that dream into a reality. I thought it was a very beautiful story about life
and love and telling your parents to stick it!
