Twisted Bond by Emma Hart ~ BLOG TOUR & REVIEW

Release Day: June 11, 2015

BLURB:
I’m an Italian-Texan woman in a family full of cops. I’m passionate and shoot before I think. You only f*ck with me if you’re stupid.

Photograph cheating spouses. Hand over the evidence. Cash my check.
That was my plan when I returned home to Holly Woods, Texas, and became a private investigator.
Finding the dead body in my dumpster? Yeah… Given the choice, I think I would have opted out of that little discovery, especially since all three of my brothers are cops. And my Italian grandmother is sure the reason I’m single is because of my job.
Of course, my connection to the victim is entirely coincidental. Until I’m hired by her husband to investigate her murder and shoved bang-smack into the path of Detective Drake Nash.
My nemesis, a persistent pain in my ass, and one hell of a sexy son of a bitch.
Shame he still holds a grudge from that time I shot him in the foot twelve years ago, or we could have something. In another life.
So now all I have to do is avoid my nonna’s blind dates, try not to blackmail my brothers into giving me confidential police files, and absolutely do not point my gun at Drake Nash. Or kiss him. Or jump his bones.
All while I hunt down the killer.
Sounds totally simple—until a second body proves that sometimes things that start as coincidences don’t always end up that way…

(Twisted Bond is book one of the Holly Woods Files series and while it does not end in a cliffhanger, it is not a standalone.)

“He’s either setting me on fire or taking my breath away.” YES YES YES (insert When Harry Met Sally moment) because this book totally make my heart race and by blood boil! The whodunit moments and the sexual tension were so much more than exciting and don’t even get me started on Nonna!!! I am a huge Emma Hart fan and totally believe that she can write nothing bad….and I am right every time! She has wit and humor that plays so well next to steamy lust. This book is an exact example of smoldering heat versus playful snark.

Detective Drake Nash is one hot Texan who sure knows how to smolder with his eyes and wind up Noelle Bond at any turn he gets. Noelle Bond is sassy Texan with a side of Italian screaming to get out. Watching the P.I. and the cop play cat and mouse was like foreplay throughout the whole book! They had this love hate for each other that just grew from childhood and exploded in adulthood.

The dynamic that Noelle had with her family was beautiful. Her Nonna, even being the absolute hot headed Italian woman you’d expect, was adoring. And all the men in Noelle’s life were so driven and fiercely protective from her brothers, father and especially Drake Nash. “La Famiglia e tutto. Family is forever.”  I completely LOVED all of the secondary characters in this book. All of them were written so seamlessly into Noelle’s life that it made me fall in love instantly. The fact that Emma made Noelle to be a sassy Texan with a penchant for wine and cupcakes was BRILLIANT!!! I mean who doesn’t love cupcakes?!

“All we can do is wake up each morning, breathe the air we are given, and take hold of life the way it intends us to, whether that be gently or fiercely.’ 100% agree with the magnificent quote! This is exactly what Noelle and drake did for each other. Either independently or together, they took what the day had to give them and made the most of it. Some of the days they fought with civility and some with more passion, but in the end they fought for equality.

I LOVED this book as I knew I would. Emma Hart never ceases to amaze me with her writing. She writes with heart and grace, throw in a dash of smart ass and a little umbrella and you have the perfect cocktail! She amazes me with every book because I can see her drive and reach as an author. I 100% recommend this book and this new series! 5 amazing stars all the way!

Noelle Bond, ex-cop-turned-PI,  has an obsession with shoes, an addiction to cupcakes and shoots first thinks later. She is the best at what does except when it comes to dealing with Holly Woods, Texas police detective, Drake Nash. He is arrogant, brash and just a plain old pain the ass.  He also happens to be hot as sin. When a dead body ends up in Noelle’s dumpster, she has no choice but to join forces with the annoyingly sexy Drake especially given the main to connection to the case is Noelle herself.

Twisted Bond is a fast paced romantic suspense. The twists and turns are just amazing.  There were moments I was literally holding my breath waiting to see what would happen next.   I was captivated by Noelle since page one. Her humor, heart and badassness make her one my favorite heroines of all time. She has a take no shit attitude and is not afraid to speak her mind. The one thing she doesn’t like to do is depend on or need people and to see her struggle with how much she needed Drake was really awesome. Drake was just so swoon worthy.  The fighting and banter between the two of them made the sexual tension off the charts.  You could literally feel it coming off of the pages. The sexy times are not a huge part of the story at all. It takes them a long time to get there and that seriously enhanced the story big time.  The buildup was just phenomenal and add it the mystery and suspense, my heart felt like it would explode.  I also felt that ending perfectly set up for a sure to be steamier second book.

This is not like any book Emma Hart has ever written before. She took a HUGE risk with this book and boy did it pay off!  In my opinion, Twisted Bond is Emma’s best book to date. Emma writes romantic suspense flawlessly! Her descriptions and giving you just enough to make you think and the sexiness of Noelle and Drake pushed TwistedBond to my TOP romantic suspense read of 2015.  Twisted Bond is a 5++ star read!

Bond, James Bond. Well not really, more like Noelle Bond.
Noelle is a an ex cop turned P.I. who finds herself in some serious situations and finds herself relying on the help of Drake Nash. Now Noelle and Drake have a love hate relationship.. And when I say love hate I mean rip each other to shreds but think sexual thoughts at the same time. "The curving bulge...the vein that trails along the inside of his arms.....What is wrong with me? People are dying and I'm thinking about licking his arm."

As a single girl myself I could relate to Noelle. Thinking your losing your faith in love and with life. The greatest advice given "Belief is relative. Religion is optional. Here is the thing - no one can make you believe anything your heart isn't fully into. No one can dictate to you your feelings and dreams. And that means no one can offer you any more or less that your heart declares, as long as your heart is strong."

In this story, unlike the others I have read by Emma Hart, Twisted Bond gives you a little piece of everything. Suspense, love and laughter. Just wait to you meet Nonna, she is the epitome of the traditional Italian grandmother.

By day, New York Times and USA Today bestselling New Adult author Emma Hart dons a cape and calls herself Super Mum to two beautiful little monsters. By night, she drops the cape, pours a glass of whatever she fancies - usually wine - and writes books.
Emma is working on Top Secret projects she will share with her followers and fans at every available opportunity. Naturally, all Top Secret projects involve a dashingly hot guy who likes to forget to wear a shirt, a sprinkling (or several) of hold-onto-your-panties hot scenes, and a whole lotta love.
She likes to be busy - unless busy involves doing the dishes, but that seems to be when all the ideas come to life.

Excerpt:
“Watch your damn mouth, Noelle Bond,” Drake says low, his tone full of threats and barely restrained anger. “My patience where you’re concerned is just about at the breakin’ point, and when it reaches it, you ain’t gonna like me very much.”
“So save yourself a job and cuff me. See what the hell happens when you do that.”
He stands and turns to me, eclipsing me in height and width. “Are you threatenin’ me, ma’am?”
I take another step toward him despite our size differences. “Fuck yeah, I’m threatenin’ you, sir. Except my threats are closer to promises, so try it and see how well it ends for you.”
The minute distance between our bodies is swallowed by his single step toward me. If I were to reach out just a little, my fingers would brush his inevitably toned stomach.
“You have five seconds to take it back before I make good on my threat, Noelle.”
“You have five seconds to get your ass the hell out of my goddamned office before I break your kneecaps.”
Within two seconds, Drake Nash’s arms are around me and he has both of my wrists secured at the base of my back with one of his hands. The other is pressed between my shoulder blades, an open pair of handcuffs just close enough that I can feel the chill of the metal through the light material of my shirt. He’s so close that I can feel every contour of his body pressing against mine, and the heat of his breath flowing across my skin sends my body temperature up several degrees.
“Do not tempt me,” he whispers hoarsely in my ear. “Do yourself a favor and refund Ryan Perkins his money. Then get your ass out of this investigation. It’s too fucking dangerous for you, Noelle. You have no idea what you’re up against.”
“Don’t ever underestimate me. You may be able to restrain me without trying, but I sure as hell ain’t afraid to fight your fine ass and pin you to the ground,” I grind out. “I’m not the cops who work under you at the station. They might whimper when you so much as glare at them, but you can have those handcuffs at my back, Detective, and I’m still gonna be ready to twist your balls off and hand them to you.”
