Although His Plaything is a short read, Ava Jackson packs in just enough to feel like a longer novel. You get plenty of info about the hero and heroine to feel like you know them and love them. Had I know it was a step-brother(ish) read, I probably wouldn't have read it. I tend to steer clear of them. So I'm glad that wasn't mentioned in the synopsis because I did really enjoy this story. I'll definitely be looking for future stories from this author.

Another great step-brother romance! This story has a hot, alpha
SEAL and his not-so-related step-sister Avery. The attraction is
almost instant. The chemistry is fire starting! And of course there
has to be some drama thrown in there. The ending was perfect!
Nixon and Avery are both very strong characters in the fact that
they both know what they want for their futures. Nixon is the
definition of a SEAL. Hot, alpha, protective, and will do anything
for anybody. Avery is very focused on getting where she wants to
be in life. What happens between these two is explosive!
Their torrid affair was only supposed to last a few months. They
knew it was wrong. They didn’t care. They had to pursue their
attraction. But what happens when feelings get involved?

Nixon is a hot as hell Navy Seal who never has time for a relationship due to his deployments. He is used to having a women or two at his apartment when he is actually home, whenever he pleases. That all changes with the arrival of his new roommate, Avery, who also happens to be his step sister. Which I use the term loosely because Nixon is Avery's step mother's step son.
I enjoyed this story. The plot though predictable, the characters were likeable and the chemistry between them was sizzling and the sexy times hot as hell. His Plaything was very well written. The only thing I didn't really like was how Avery kept saying we're practically related. I found that line to be overly used and stretching it a bit considering they were steps of a step.
Otherwise this was a fun quick read and who doesn't like a hot alpha Navy Seal?
