This book was amazing. There was suspense, drama, near death experiences, and most of all the passion of the two main characters. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I stayed up well into the wee hours of the morning to finish this story because I didn't want to put it down unfinished. There were not a lot of extra characters to keep up with. Don't get me wrong, some of my favorite books have 10 or more characters going at one time. However, I like the fact that if they weren't relevant to the story, they were kept out and not used as filler. The story line was great and I was impressed that it hooked me so fast.

Avery (Iris) has been through a very rough few years. Her father is a murderer and committed suicide, something she has never really believed. She endured the hate and ridicule through her high school years. When she graduates all she can think about is getting out of town and starting over. So that is exactly what she does. She changes her name and moves to another state to attend college. Her life is not easy. She has this constant reminder of who she is and what her father did. To top that off she has a mother who barely acknowledges her existence, who left her with her uncle shortly after her father died. Then she runs in to the last person that she ever wanted to run in to in her new life, Luke Reid.
Luke is a cop with NYPD who also happens to be from her hometown. In fact, he is one of the police officers who found her father. Through the years since he moved, he would come back and visit with Avery to make sure she was holding up okay. Luke is beside himself when he figures out the Avery has been in the same town as him for months. He immediately decides she needs to be in his life. He has had feelings for her since she was 16, but was never able to act on them. Now he has his chance and he is going to take it. When her identity is discovered at the college, Luke is bound and determined to help her figure out what actually happened all those years ago and to keep her safe.
When secrets from the past come to light, will the love that Avery and Luke feel for eath other be enough tp help them through? Or will the pain be too much for them?

The synopsis of the story is what drew me to read this book. Curious got the best of me and I took a chance on a book by an author I am not familiar with. To top it off it was a new adult romantic SUSPENSEFUL read; which lead to one thing on my mind…screwed up situations.
Ms. Bresllin is a daughter of a serial killer who wanted to get away from her traumatic and tragic history that she has been faced and dealt with. Changing her name to Avery Patterson and attending Columbia University is the fresh start she is hoping will keep her away from her ugly past and to be able to move on with her life.
Luke Reid is a cop by day and a musician at night. A record deal waiting to be signed but a man who prefers to serve and protect is what is holding him back. A badass, sexy appealing hottie with tattoos along with amazing talent makes this a story that I could not put down.
The 4 stars read will have you guessing the connections between the two main characters that have known each other since they were kids. Just when I though I had everything figured out something gets thrown in the loop to throw me off again. Check out this mysterious tale today and see what had my mind whirling! ;)

This is a new adult suspense by author Frankie Rose. The synopsis was what drew me in originally and made me think HELL TO THE YEAH, I need to read this.
This book is a rollercoaster of emotions. One minute you are laughing, then you are riled up and wanting to punch Irish placement students right in the penis, then your heart literally breaks over and over.
Avery/Iris is a fabulous lead female. For someone who has endured so much sadness and hurt, it really is surprising how stable she actually is. I need to vent that her mother is an ASSHOLE, and needs a swift kick to the tit! That woman grated on me from the get go!!
The secondary characters were a good addition to the story and I felt a connection to them, especially Morgan.
Luke, the cop/musician/freak between the sheets lead male has to be one of the bravest guys I have read. Not forgetting his swoony and beautiful adoration for Avery charmed the panties off me
"You were sixteen by then and broken, and so fucking beautiful, and I couldn’t stop it no matter how hard I tried. These days it seems as though I can’t remember a time when I haven’t wanted to be the person you come to when you need someone. When you aren’t the first thing I think about when I woke up in the morning.”
The suffering he too has experienced has not defined him. I like that a lot. The fact he is always fighting for Avery really broke my heart. I wish she had let him in sooner and I wish we had seen more of a love connection between the two earlier on in the book, because a lot of the time I was in the mind set of "Will they? Won't they?" Which of course added to the suspense.
The twist was REALLY good! And I did not expect it to be who it was. (This will make sense when you read it)
Frankie Rose has a really good writing style, it is fast paced and relatable. A really good 4 star read!
