If you're looking for a modern day Pretty Woman type story, look I further. Contractual is everything that I look for in a story and more. We get the strong heroine who is set on making it in her own. Then we have the sexy, alpha hero who doesn't take no for an answer and will do whatever it takes to get what he wants.
Sage is very strong-willed. Originally from Indiana, she moved to New York with her jerk of a boyfriend only to end up cheating on her and leaving her to fend for herself in a city that can easily swallow anyone whole. Now, she's having trouble keeping up on her bills and is on her last leg after just receiving a note that threatens eviction. Relentlessly searching for a new job, she comes across an add that just might be her savior...only, it's not at all what she thinks.
Jackson Stone is the epitome of an alpha male. He doesn't have the time or patience to deal with a relationship. So when his current fling keeps pushing for more, he knows he has to look elsewhere to receive his pleasure. He just never thought that he would resort to paying for it.
One night together has Jackson thinking and feeling things he never has before. But he sticks to his motto that he doesn't have time for a relationship. Slowly but surely, his resolve is breaking, but can he tone down his controlling attitude enough to see if he could indeed make it work with someone? Or will his ego get the best of him and ruin the possibility of more before it's explored?
If you can't tell, I LOVED this book. My only question is WHY was this my first book to read by Alice Montalvo-Tribue? Make no mistake, it will not be my last. I devoured this book so fast, it left my head spinning. I couldn't believe that I flew through it and was reading 'The End' already. I loved that we got enough back story to know about the characters and what made them tick. We got to know them as individuals before being thrown into the mess that was Sage and Jackson trying to hide the feelings they had for each other behind a contract that they had no plans of abiding by. The build up of the story is what really drew me in, struggling heroine ultimately makes the choice to do what it takes to save herself while finding and falling for the one man who won't ever make time for what could be a wonderful relationship. Don't get me wrong, there were moments where I wanted to strangle them both, but all in all, I was left satisfied and sated with the ending, only hoping that there will be another book because while I couldn't ask for more from the ending, I. Want. More. of all that is Jackson and Sage.
