FLAWED LOVE by Bella Jewel ~ FMR REVIEW

Title: Flawed Love
Series: House of Obsidian #2
Author: Bella Jewel
 Release Date: July 7, 2015

Blurb:
Rainer Torrence is everything I could have wanted in my life and more.
He became my best friend when I was Thirteen years old.
From then on, we were inseparable. He was my first love and my first heartbreak.
But I always thought it was forever.
Until his Father died and things went bad.
Then suddenly, he disappeared.

Ten years and I didn’t see or hear from him.

Then came the call I’d be praying for– he was back in town.
Only the man I remembered is not him.
This man is quiet, deadly, and so incredibly beautiful.
He also doesn’t remember me.
He looks into my eyes, and he sees nothing.

Nothing.

So, I let him believe I’m just a girl that walked into his bar.
I let him believe I’m just a friend.
I let him use me on the cold, dark nights.
I let him believe that I am as emotionless about our relationship as he is.
I just let the secret go on and on.

But all secrets have an end, don’t they?

What I love about Bella Jewel is that from the 1st word of any of her books she has you hooked.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from Flawed Love, because yes, I knew who Rainer was to Pippa but that is all I Knew.
I had no clue about his past life before he met Pippa because he never really told her much. What I have learnt from
this book is so far from what I would have guessed it’s not even funny.

Emali aka Mali or Emy knows Rainer from his previous life before Pippa. Rainer’s story is one of heartbreak and devastation.
No one should suffer as he has, but these are the cards he was dealt.

This is an intricate story of love, loss & betrayal that will hold you captivated from start to finish & leave you wanting more.
I found myself saying the F word a lot while reading this because it was so easy to get caught up in the story and feel the emotions
of all 3 characters in this book. Then I got to the end and found I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to Rainer just yet, but thems the breaks, life will go on!!

This book is written in both past tense & the here and now so that it makes it easy to see how everyone is linked together and makes the story
easy to follow.

Bella Jewel has her own unique style of writing that brings her characters to life in a way that makes it easy to connect with them and
allows the story to flow seamlessly from start to end.

I absolutely loved this book and would recommend it to anyone and everyone!

I was so friggin happy to get this book! I have wanted to read Rainer’s story since he came on the scene in Pippa and Tyke’s book! He is truly a tortured soul. He has been through something truly horrifying and come out a survivor. His relationship with Pippa is beautiful, but at the same time, too dependent on both sides. He is a strong, courageous man who is taking his life day by day. He is a truly beautiful soul.
Emailie (Emy, Mali) is also a very strong character. She has been through the ringer herself. She has survived the loss of the only man she has truly ever loved. However, she can be a glutton for punishment. She is a very patient person when she knows what she wants.

I loved the “feels” in this story. I cried for both characters throughout the story. I ugly cried at the end. It was very emotional and addictive. The storyline flows effortlessly even with a couple twists thrown in there. The author knows how to write a truly epic story. Her attention to detail is amazing. I felt so in tune with the characters. I could not put the book down.

Flawed Love is a fantastic continuation in the 'House of Obsidian' series. I was buzzing to get my hands on Rainer's story and Bella Jewel gave me everything I wanted from this book!!!
This story holds two of my absolute favourite themes!!! Friends to Lovers AND Second Chance Romance!!! So if either of these themes are favourites for you, then this book is an absolute must!!!
Emalie has loved Rainer since she was just a girl. Always looking up to him, wanting him to notice her not just as a buddy, not just as a sister like figure, but as a beautiful girl who he could fall in love with.
Years later, Mali is now a woman who never let go of her feelings. Hearing that Rainer is back in town, she thinks she must go to him to see if he remembers her and the connection they had. Looking completely different now, she is still sure he will remember, but her world falls apart when there is absolutely zero recollection.
Mali is a really strong and beautiful character. Her actions were real, and I adored the flashbacks so I could see her growth in character from girl to woman. I loved her sass and the humour she put into a lot off the dialogue. But I also felt her hurt, sadness and the eternal love she has felt for Rainer.
Rainer may be physically free from the HELL he endured, but mentally and emotionally, he is one tortured man. I loved his strength, I love that he is still fighting the demons in his head and hasn't given up. Sometimes I seriously wanted to punch the guy in the face for his actions, but LOVED that he got the wake up call he needed!
The steamy scenes were ABSOLUTELY SMOKIN' and I swear Rainer has one helluva dirty mouth!!!!!
This story held really heartfelt moments and I know this is a book I will read again. If you want a fast read, that still packs the punch, grips you and makes you feel so damn happy in the end, THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU!!!!
I really really wanted more Rainer POV's. I would like to have seen how he felt about Mali back when they were young and how he felt when their world's collided for a second time! That may be because I'm a greedy reader and want ALL THE WORDS or because it would have made me feel Rainer's character on a much deeper level!!!!
This is an excellent continuation of a great series!!! And I cannot wait for the next book!!!!!

Flawed Love is the second book in the House of Obsidian series. Just like the first book, I took quite some time to decide on a rating because the story had a very intricate and complex plot. The writing was very gripping and compelling. However, unlike the first book where I had trouble with the plot, I was more uncomfortable with one of the main characters.

I really liked how like the previous book, the story is divided into the past and present and we went back and forth between these two timelines. Because of this, I really enjoyed reading the past and being able to grasp onto these characters more. Emalie is such a lovely and strong woman. I felt for her more than a couple of times. It was so easy to just fall in love with her character and support her through her tough times. On the other hand, Rainer is a little bit more dark and complex. Obviously he's been through a lot, which makes him to be a very courageous man. I felt for him. Unfortunately, there were some parts to him that I disliked. The biggest flaw that he had was his mistreatment towards Emalie. I don't want to go into too much detail, but it was very unfair for Emalie.

All in all, I really enjoyed the sequel. It had a strong plot with great characters. A book you have to pick up if you love a dark and compelling read, especially if you've read the first book.
