Code of Honor by Missy Johnson ~ FMR REVIEW

TITLE: Code of Honor (Spontagio Family, #1)
AUTHOR: Missy Johnson
RELEASE DATE: August 4, 2015

BLURB:
In a series debut for fans of Tracy Wolff and Sylvia Day, New York Times bestselling author Missy Johnson asks a burning question: What happens when love is undeniable—and taboo?

Pietro Gustovi is loyal, polished, and hard as stone, the kind of guy women want and men respect. At twenty-three, he’s survived tragedies that would break men twice his age. And he owes it all to his father’s closest friend, Giovanni Spontagio, who took him in as an orphaned teenager. Pietro would give his life for Giovanni . . . but his heart belongs to Giovanni’s daughter.

Raised in Chicago under the spotlight of power and privilege, Lucy Spontiago feels most alive on stage. Determined to become a prima ballerina, she escapes her father’s protective gaze long enough to audition for the ballet in New York City. Soon, however, Lucy realizes that she is not alone. Pietro is watching her back. And though he’s like a brother to her, Lucy cannot deny the thrill she feels knowing his eyes are on her.

Pietro could never betray his mentor by sleeping with his only child. But Lucy follows her passions, no matter how forbidden. Soon their nights are consumed by explosive, red-hot temptation—a dance that will expose shocking secrets and burn everything else to the ground.

Review by: LEEANN

This is a story that you can't help but have your heartstrings pulled. Pietro witnessed the death of his parents at aged 15. Growing up, he knew his father was involved in shady business he just never understood to what extent. Until that day when his life changed forever.

Lucia's father is also a man involved in shady business. But his lifestyle and business dealings have ensured Lucia has had the comfortable  life she has had. She wants for nothing. Her biggest dreams have begun to take shape and she did it all without her father's  money or help.

This book has lots of twists and turns and you never quiet know where it going to go next. Lucia and Pietro are forbidden to each other but eventually give in to their feelings. They both need to learn how to decide the one man that means the most to them both.  Their antics are cute and funny. The extent they go to keep it from him are huge.
What they both forget is that he is always one step ahead of them.

Lucia's  father has manipulated them both, but each for different reasons and in doing so, has put them both in danger.

These two young adults have been thrust into this lifestyle through no choice of their own. They have yet to come to terms with what this means for them and it looks as if they are going to find out the hard way.

If you like mafia/mobb stories with a lot of danger, lots of sexual tension and a young couple on their quest for a happy ending then you will enjoy this book. It is well written and the characters growth from the beginning of the book to the end is easy to follow and understand. The storyline is consistent and flows through seamlessly from chapter to chapter.

This is a cliffhanger and I'm looking forward to book 2 to see what happens for Lucia and Pietro next!

4 Stars
