Marry me.
Two words Kalli Montgomery never expected to say out loud to Xavier Cruz, even though she's been in love with the sexy, single father for as long as she can remember. Unfortunately, she hasn't just been friend-zoned for the past ten years. No, even worse, he's treated her like a little sister, no matter how hard she tried to prove she could be so much more. When she agrees to spend the summer as the caregiver for his daughter, Lily, she knows it's her last chance to finally make him take notice.
As unexpected circumstances threaten to disrupt his home life, Xavier's desperate to keep his family together. He'll do whatever it takes, even if it means marrying a woman he doesn't love. For Xavier and Lily, Kalli will do just about anything, even at the risk of getting her heart broken in the process.
Little does she know, sometimes love isn't quite as unrequited as one may think. Xavier sees her-he always has. And the vow he made all those years ago never to go there with his best friend's little sister is wavering, and it's wavering fast. When they come up with a plan that leads to wedding bells, it's a no brainer.
This marriage of convenience has one rule: absolutely no falling in love.
Easier said than done. Throw together a girl who believes rules are meant to be broken, and a man whose whole career revolves around following orders and you get a recipe for disaster. What could possibly go wrong?

I loved this book! It is perfect! The writing is flawless, the character development was smooth with no empty spaces and the plot line was different and intriguing.
What I loved most about the relationship between Xavier and Kalli was how easy it was. They were friends and you could tell they really liked each other as people. It's rare these days to see relationships in novels that aren't built on lust and this relationship was just wow. I loved how careful Xavier was, though push and pull made me want to choke him, I got it. It was very realistic as to the way single parents think when it comes to dating. Kalli was such a fun character to read and loved her patient persistence when it came to Xavier and how genuine she was. The sexy times were smoking and the sweet times had me swooning.
"The anticipation of the kiss is the most important part. I want you to crave it. I want the waiting to drive you wild. I want you so eager for our first kiss that, when it actually happens, it will be a moment you'll never forget. A memory you'll never be able to replace."

Xavier and Kalli were amazingly scorching all over the place!! "Well, we've known each other for so long, but I think this is the first time we've ever actually spent time together alone".... OH YUMMY!!! I loved loved loved watching this duo fight over feelings and family to make magic happen!! Second chance love... Maybe or just first chance love that needed time to grow and mature. Whatever it was it HOT and so worth the time they put into it!
This book was full of fire and heat! I was seriously a wanting pile of mush by the end. Tessa is fantastic at bringing a reader like me to my knees. Intoxicate was a perfect example of that. Here is my review for Intoxicate (Explosive #4) by Tessa Teevan:
A marriage proposal with a pact to not fall in love…that alone made this story a must read for me. Kalli Montgomery has been love with her brother’s best friend, Xavier Cruz since they met over a decade ago. Xavier had an interest for Kalli until he found out her real age and could only see her has his little sister.
Years later and moving to start a life and to live closer to her siblings Kalli agrees to spend the summer taking care of Lily and is determined to make herself known to Xavier. But is the proposal enough for him to see past everything and to become more?
“How do you know it’s me you want? Not the guy with the cute little girl that you love so much?” “Because from the moment I met you, my heart started to flutter. And it’s never stopped.” I admit without pause, opting for complete and total honesty this time.
Being a single father unexpected possibilities comes into light making his need to keep his family together but is getting married and being in a platonic relationship going to work?
“I could love you.” Those words are truer now than they were two hours ago, and I have to fight the urge to say them again. Because the way I feel now? It’s more than infatuation. It’s more than just primal want or need. It’s just…so much more.
This story is the first book I have read from this series and it was one that I thoroughly enjoyed. A single dad raising his daughter on his own is one of the reasons that makes this story HOT! Then there is the need/want that was off the charts all over the place making the read so much more than I had expected for two people who have been holding out from one another for all these years. This 5 stars reads will have you fall deep for both Xavier and Kalli.

Oh my goodness has Tessa Teevan done it again with the latest installment of of her Explosive Series, Intoxicate.
Single dad and best friend of Kale, Xavier, is cautious and calculated. Ever since Angela walked out on him and his daughter, who was an infant at the time, Lilly, Xavier only knew how to do two things- be a father and a soldier. Xavier had the support of his mother, Kale and Kale's sister, Kalliope (Kalli). When Xavier first notices Kalli she is only 16 and pushes his attraction down. Kalli and Xavier become friends over the year and neither one are fully aware of how the other feels. An outside issue threatens to break away Kale and Lilly so Kalli does what she thinks is the best way to help two of the people that mean most to her- she comes up with a plan that will allow Kale to keep Lilly and everyone happy but when feelings get stringer will this plan be the things that blows everything up or will it be a defining moment for Kalli and Xavier?
I highly recommend going on an unforgettable journey with Xavier and Kalli. I give it 5-you won't regret it-stars.

These two are destined to be together and Kallie already loves Xavier's daughter Lilly like she is her own daughter so they just need to work out how to make it happen.
This is a beautiful story about new beginnings. Kallie and Xavier are so in love with each other and everyone else can see it except them. Kallie has an awesome sense of humour which shines through several times throughout the story. She keeps Xavier on his toes and teaches him that even though he is a single dad and a soldier, it is okay relax and enjoy life sometimes.
Xavier and Kallie both learn about unconditional love.
This story is heart warming and emotional. Once you start reading you won't want to stop until you get to the end. Well worth getting your once click finger out for.

Shooting a glare at him, I throw my hands up in exasperation. “Are you telling me that this whole anticipation thing is one-sided? Is it that easy for you to resist? I really need to step up my game.”
Xavier’s eyes fall to my lips for a quick moment before he looks back up at me. I see the desire in his expression, and without him even saying a word, I know he wants this, too. So why is he making me wait?
“You have no idea how much I want to kiss you right now. How many times I’ve thought of doing just that. Every time you were curled up against me on the couch, I wanted to kiss you. Every morning when you showed up, I wanted to kiss you. Every time you said goodnight to Lily and then slipped out my door? I wanted to kiss you before you left. It’s not a new development. The first time I ever saw you, Kalli, I wanted to kiss you. And I’ve wanted to ever since.”
His admission floors me. He’s told me before that he “saw” me, but I had no clue it was from the very beginning. I’m not really sure how to process it. In fact, he beats me to the punch.
“So now you know. This will be just as hard for me, but it will be so damn worth it. Because when you’ve wanted something for as long as I’ve wanted you? It’ll be the best feeling in the world when I finally get it.”
“Our first kiss will be that epic?”
“A first kiss to rival them all,” he quips, grinning at me. He holds his arms out wide. “Now, we’ll start with a hug and work our way up.”
“I feel like I’m sixteen again,” I tell him as I wrap my arms around his waist.
His hands come down to my back and he gives me a big squeeze, my head pressing against his firm chest. I love this feeling of being in his arms, him holding me close. There’s nowhere on the planet I’d rather be than right here with him. As much as I want him, I know he’s right. I don’t care when it comes. Because when it does, our first kiss will be unforgettable.
His chest rumbles as he chuckles. He squeezes me tight one last time before letting me go. “And it’s only just the beginning,” he tells me. “Have a good night, crazy girl.”
