8 Weeks by Bethany Lopez ~ REVIEW TOUR

8 Weeks (Time for Love Book 1)
by Bethany Lopez
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Is eight weeks enough time to earn back the love of someone you've betrayed...the only one you've ever loved?

Shelly has been in love with Cal since they started dating in eleventh grade. Despite everyone saying that the odds were against them, they got married after graduation and built a life together. Now, six years later, she is faced with the ultimate betrayal. Devastated, her first instinct is to call it quits…

After a drunken binge at his best friends’ bachelor party, Cal betrays the one person who has always been there for him, his wife, Shelly. Terrified and realizing she might divorce him, Cal must come up with a way to prove to her that his love is true…

Cal asks Shelly for eight weeks. Eight weeks to convince her that their marriage is worth the fight. Will Shelly be able to trust him again, or will their marriage end the way many others do when faced with opposition… In divorce?

8 Weeks is book 1 in the Time for Love series, but can be read as a stand alone.

There couldn't be two people more perfect for each other than Cal and Shelly are. They are high school sweethearts, having been together since day one. For the past six years, their life and marriage has been as perfect as it could be. But all of that changes when Cal goes to Vegas with his friends for a bachelor party and wakes up in a hotel room naked with another woman. He knows he has to tell Shelly. He can't lie to her.
He knows she'll be devastated, but he can't live with the guilt.

This story had it all. Love, heartbreak, angst, and the hope for more. Shelly knows that she can't stay with Cal after what he's done. But he begs, and he begs hard, for her to give him 8 weeks to prove that she can still trust him.
"Why eight?"
"One for every year that we've been together."

Although Cal betrayed Shelly in the worst possible way, I couldn't help but to think of how chivalrous he was. How many men out there would do whatever it takes to save their marriage after something like this? Not many I can think of. Shelly is set firm in separating and dividing assets, but will Cal be able to prove that he was the man she once knew and show her that his love her for is just as strong as ever? This story is a favorite. Not only did I love Cal and Shelly, but I fell in love with TJ, Scott, Gaby, and Sasha. This is a group of friends I'd love to have for myself. I can't wait to get more of them in the next story.

After a drunken night for Cal in Vegas for his best friend’s bachelor weekend and his marriage is down the drain. The kicker? He doesn’t even recall what really happens. Being the stand up guy that he is he tells his wife, Shelly of his indiscretion and without further explanation and talking it out she is already done with the marriage and is seeking a divorce.

“You have to know, Shel, he’s gutted over this. No one will love you the way that he does. He will love you forever. Just think about that before you make any final decisions.”

This book seriously had me utterly frustrated within the first few chapters to the point that I wanted to throw the book and walk away. The lead female character was so stubborn (and that’s saying it nicely) that it made her seem weaker even though she was the one betrayed. Luckily, Cal convinced her to give him 8 weeks before following through any life changing decisions which got me curious for more and see what happens.

Cal is not your typical husband. He is in love with his wife since they first met and would do anything for her. It especially showed when he confessed what had happened as soon as he got home from his trip. He wanted to prove himself to Shelly and would go the extra miles to get her back. A 3 stars read that will make you look at any challenging situation in relationships as a whole even after being together for awhile/years and to determine how deep is the love? Is it worth fighting for? A good book of a married couple finding themselves as a person and as a one together again.
