Tomorrow's Lies by SR Grey ~ FMR REVIEW

Tomorrow's Lies
(Promises, #1)
by SR Grey

ABOUT Tomorrow's Lies:

When today's promises become tomorrow's lies, how can you believe in anything . . . or anyone?

Jaynie Cumberland has no idea how to trust again, so she’s given up on trying. Dumped in to the state foster care system at age fourteen, Jaynie spent three years treading water, just trying to get by.

Still, Jaynie always knew she was broken in some way. After all, why did her own mother abandon her? And following a harrowing experience at her first foster home, Jaynie’s worst fears are confirmed, leaving her feeling worthless and shattered.

Now Jaynie counts the days till she turns eighteen and can go out on her own. All she wants is to be free of everyone and everything. But before that can happen, she must make it through the next few months at one final foster home. There Jaynie meets a gorgeous, albeit rough-around-the-edges, boy who is dealing with the repercussions of his own turbulent past.

Flynn O'Neill is immediately taken with this new, fragile girl. He becomes determined to show Jaynie there is more to life than hurt and pain. Unfortunately, this new home they live in, one that promised to be a haven for unwanted kids, is more like a living hell.

So what do you do when you’re trapped and there’s no way out?

What if you fall in love and protecting the other person becomes the most important thing in your life?

What if something unthinkable happens, testing your love, and the stakes are raised higher than ever? Will you come out unscathed? Can today’s promises be kept? Or will they simply become more of tomorrow’s lies?

Tomorrow’s Lies is a beautiful story of an all-consuming love and broken people building a family out of nothing. It's about never giving up, even in the face of adversity.

Everyone has a story....everyone's
story deserves to be told ...but some parts of that story may be very difficult to read ....and sometimes THOSE are the stories ...the dark ones ...the difficult to read ones....that need to be brought into the light the most...

~~In this house, the monsters are not in the closet. They exist outside of it.~~

Flynn has not had an easy life ...by any definition ....an extremely hard life growing up ...things a child should never have to endure...then thrust into the foster care system ...At his core ...He is a protector ...that's what he does ...that's what he knows ....
He meets Jaynie when they both get placed in the same home...where things aren't exactly as they appear on the outside
...Jaynie has been through her own trauma ...that will never really go away.....but she just wants to be "normal" again ...she is strong  and determined ...I really like her!

~~The system is broken. And now, so am I.~~

This novel is heartbreaking as well as heartwarming ...it will introduce you to some amazing and beautiful characters as well as some that you'd like to "take a switch to"....Well...probably more than a switch ...There are parts of this story ...that will break your heart ...but there are also parts ...that will mend it back together ....it's about finding your happy ..right where you are ...about not giving up...courage and determination... about desperation ...about always moving forward ...and hope for a better future....cause without hope ..what is there?

~~I’m comfortable with my new foster siblings, in a way that helps me heal. Every day, I draw a little closer to the girl I once was.~~

I can't wait to see what happens next for all of these characters...A really beautiful novel...a recommended read for sure!

Today's promises become tomorrow's lies. That's the one most important thing that stuck out for me while reading this story.

Jaynie learns this the hard way while growing up. Until she meets Flynn, the boy in the same foster home she gets sent to. And what a home it is. The mother is a vile woman who works and starves the children in her care. Over the course of staying in the home, Jaynie and Flynn become friends and fall in love. Only things get worse at the home and they make a fact for Jaynie to run. Flynn promises to find her. But will his promise become tomorrow's lie?

This story is filled with strong and resilient characters. Can't wait to read about the rest of the characters.
