Monsters in the Dark series by Pepper
Winters is an intense and gripping story. It deals with a lot of harsh and dark
yet true topics. It's definitely not light hearted. You'll be going through a
constant wreck of emotions from start to end. There are times where our
characters have to get through some of the most cruel and toughest situations
and your heart will go out to them. There is definitely a lot of character
development throughout the whole series and even in each book. The span of
their growth is remarkable.
Tess Snow is a sweet and lovely heroine,
but from the first book, we can tell there's another part of her that is just
waiting to break free. She isn't always innocent. There's a wilder and fiercer
side to her that comes out when she was kidnapped in the first book. Through
those terrible situations, we can see how strong and brave she is. I loved her
courage in standing up for herself and also allowing another side of her to
release. On the other hand, Q is a very intimidating and mysterious man. I
didn't warm up to him straight away but I was definitely intrigued about his
story and background. Q is a very different love interest from the other books
I've read. There is this aura that he exudes that just screams powerful.
The relationship between Tess and Q is the
main highlight to the series. I liked the progress that happened throughout the
series. They didn't understand each other in the first book and it was nice to
see them trying to work things out together. They have their rough moments and
most often, it's very dark and intense between the two. The bond that they have
is different and honestly, there were times I felt disturbed by some of their
scenes. However, there is a uniqueness and special quality to their
relationship.
Monsters in the Dark series is a fantastic
read that isn't for the light hearted. It's raw and real and honest.
Excerpt from Twisted Together
(MITD, #3)
Q frowned, impossibly making him more roguish and handsome. “Tess…? How do you feel?”
How did I feel? Amazing. Lusty. Powerful. Consumed.
I stretched again, arching my back as water lapped around my body. I wanted to moan with how good I felt. I’d never been so warm or contended or horny.
My eyes snapped to Q’s. Him. I had to have him.
“You’re so beautiful,” I murmured. Q froze, his eyes searching mine. Slowly, his lips turned up into half a smile.
I pressed my thighs together. I couldn’t stop my body from overheating and needing. I’d been cursed or charmed—some sort of potion lived inside. I had no other explanation for how much I needed him.
I laughed, throwing myself headfirst into whatever spell I was trapped in. My voice fell from my mouth, tinkling and chiming like a bell. Was that truly me? I sounded magical. I sounded like a princess straight from a storybook.
Who was I? Sleeping Beauty who’d been woken by her prince?
My eyes locked onto Q’s. No. I was the one who’d fallen head over heels for a beast who spoke in foreign tongues.
Tongue.
A flush of heat and wetness built between my legs. I would give anything to have his tongue on me. I wanted his head between my thighs. I wanted his fingers clawing at my hips. I wanted to be used, bruised, adored.
Q cocked his head, chuckling under his breath. “I think Franco miscalculated the dose.”
I shook my head. I didn’t understand. All I understood was his voice had the power to make me come. The deep tenor vibrated through my heart, sending tiny orgasms exploding in my veins.
I needed to be touched. I needed to be kissed.
