BAD ROMANCE
A Stepbrother Novel
Jen McLaughlin
Releasing Sept 15th, 2015

In this explosive novel from bestselling author Jen McLaughlin, a good girl falls for the ultimate bad boy: her stepbrother. Perfect for fans of Sabrina Paige, Caitlin Daire, and Krista Lakes, Bad Romance proves that passion can be so wrong it’s right.

Seven years in the army will change a guy. But after a shoulder wound ends his career as a sniper, Jackson Worthington finds himself back home, fighting a battle that’s all too familiar: keeping his hands off Lily Hastings. She’s still her rich daddy’s little angel, innocent, impossibly lovely, as squeaky-clean as Jackson is dirty. And she’s still his stepsister—forbidden but not forgotten, not after the soul-melting kiss that got him kicked out of the house at eighteen. He couldn’t resist her then. How the hell can he resist her now?

Lily is about to marry a man she doesn’t love, and commit to a high-stress job she hates, all to please the father who controls every waking moment of her life. On top of everything, her teenage crush is back, with a sleek, chiseled body and a trace of the rebellious boy whose lips sealed her fate. Jackson’s timing couldn’t be worse . . . or better. Because Lily’s all grown up, too. She’s aching for another taste. And for the first time, she’s ready to be a bad girl.

Jackson and Lily are related by marriage, step siblings to be exact. Only they didn't grow up together very long, not one Lily's dad found them kissing. Jackson left home and joined the military. Lily tried to stay in touch and wrote him all the time, but not getting a letter back made them drift apart.
Injured in the line of duty Jackson comes back home, and fate brings them together again. Only this time, Lily is promised to someone else.

I am a big fan of step brother romances, I've read a few this year. This one didn't quite live up to the mark. First, they weren't living together long enough for me to view them as step siblings. Second, who arranges marriages in this decade?? I did however like it based on the romance alone. Hot step brother and he's a military man?!! Yes please!!! Love a man in uniform ...sigh.....

This book took me on a emotional rollercoaster that you won't want to get off. This book took a turn that I didn't see coming. You have the stepbrother that fought his feelings for his stepsister and made a mistake one night that changed their lives forever. Fast forward a few years and these 2 come back together to figure out if they can get over the challenges that they now face that are bigger than ever or not. I couldn't put this page turner down. When push comes to shove these two take a chance and sometimes a chance is all you need. Must read

I really enjoy forbidden love stories.  Lilly and Jackson's story ended before it started.  Only to be rekindled years later.  Lilly was a women of honor, integrity, courage, and completely selfless.  She was viewed as weak but, I saw the strength she had.

Jackson was a wildcard.  Quick to anger, loyal to those he trusts, and wants nothing more than to be free to make his own choices in life.  Being an army vet I expected his time served to play more of a role in his story but it was surprisingly missing.

The storyline was a good one and the characters were well developed.  I liked the duel point of views so you got insight into both their minds.  However their constant pondering of their relationship was a bit redundant.  I would have liked to get more from them.
