The Same Deep Water Synopsis:
Sometimes, believing the lies we tell ourselves is easier than dealing with the truth.
Once, I wanted to die. That was the night I met Guy.
The strange man with flowers stepped from the shadows and saved my life.
Guy. Dimpled smile. Body of a surf god. Smart and funny. Running out of time.
We became travelling companions through life, ticking off items on our bucket lists.
I’d hidden from happiness for years and kept my life under strict control. Guy showed me how to step into the world and experience more,
he brought light into the shadows and helped me through the darkness.
I became Phe again. I lived.
There’s just one problem.
We fell in love and this wasn’t part of our plans.
I thought we could face the future together, but Guy has a secret which changes everything.

Ok, so for those of you that have read any of Lisa Swallow’s other books you will see this is very different.
This is a story about 2 people who meet under unusual circumstances & find they are drawn to each other for reasons
neither of them understand.
Guy is a complex character. The best way I can think to describe him is to borrow a phrase from Shrek. He is like an onion.
Onions have layers.. Get my drift??
Guys has many layers & as the story progresses you will think you know which direction he is going, but you will probably be wrong.
Phe on the other hand is very transparent, She doesn’t hid who she is or what her feelings are. Together they are an odd couple, but they
seem to balance each other out.
Lisa Swallow has put a lot of time and research into this book and that comes across quite clearly as you are reading. This book has been in no
way written off the cuff. There are serious issues that come up and are addressed in this book & for some, it may hit close to home.
It is not a quick read, you need to allow time to read & absorb the words that are written.
I think of all of the books Lisa has written, this is the most serious & probably the most well thought out. I loved the story, I loved the characters,
I loved the writing and Lisa’s ability to tell the story & keep me on my toes while I’m reading about her characters.
Like I said earlier, if you have read any of this authors books, you will find this very different, but if you have not yet had the pleasure of reading a Lisa Swallow
book, this is a great place to start.

I'd like to start this review by talking about that absolutely GORGEOUS cover! It was what caught my attention and made me want to read this book!
The Same Deep Water is the kind of book that leaves a huge life impact, an impression from quotes that we could all live by. The story is so thought provoking and could inspire anyone to live life the best way, with no regrets, taking risks and finding yourself.
This is the story of Phe and Guy. This isn't any typical romance of guy meets girl, saves said girl and they run off into the sunset living happily ever after! OH NO! This story is deep, it is raw and it is full of emotion that had me thinking of the book after finishing. It is full of REAL LIFE problems that I personally, have worked within and studied hard for. The way the author portrayed this was really intense and written well! The characters both have huge personal issues and when events unfold both come into each other's lives at the PERFECT time! Guy encourages Phe to reach out and grab her life with both hands and LIVE it to the fullest! Phe provides Guy with the calm his life needs and opens whole new choices that he didn't think he could have!
I loved the authors writing, it is full of beautiful creativity and a depth that is unique to her. This story is written in first person and is told from Phe's POV!
The first 40% of this book had me captured so effortlessly! But some of the situations and scenes that occurred after this point, I really struggled with, but in all honesty, I think that is personal preference! But please, don't let that put you off this book!
The author is clearly very talented and I look forward to reading more of her work!
