BLURB

In a sprint, every millisecond counts.
When you're waiting for love, those milliseconds can feel like eons.
High school senior Lucas Preston has it all: star of the track team, a scholarship waiting for him, an apartment to himself and a revolving door of girlfriends. He also has an older sister, five younger brothers and a father who relies on him to make sure those brothers don't kill each other.
His saving grace? Lois "Laney" Sanders, a girl he started to fall in like with when he was just eleven.
A girl who became his best friend, his confidant, his courage.
It took only sixteen clicks and eight seconds for Lucas to realize that his like for Laney had turned into love.
Eight life-changing seconds.
It's also the exact length of time it took to lose her.

I always know when I pick up a Jay McLean book that I am going to get exactly what I want from the story.
I know I am going to feel all the emotions of the characters & I am going to go between feeling like I am having my heart ripped out and feeling on top of the world.
It doesn’t matter what she writes, I always get swept up in the momentum of the characters and the story line.
LUCAS was no different, in fact I think this is probably the most emotional book Jay McLean has written to date.  This is a story about a young couple that are always learning
about the world and each other.
Lois is the Lois Lane to Lucas’s Clark Kent. You just can’t have one without the other. This young couple soon learn though, that life rarely turns out how you plan it.
At times I was so emotional reading the words on the page that I just had to stop.
There are a tonne of lessons to be learned through Lois & Lucas’s journey. One of them being family. Family is everything and they will have your back no matter what.
When Lois and Lucas first meet, all Lois has is her dad. Lucas comes from a big family & they happily embrace Lois & her dad as their own. I absolutely loved the dynamic of the
families and what they each brought to the mix. I loved that they all look out for each other in their own unique way.

But the biggest one is LOVE..
Love can triumph over anything that is put in its path. If you have love you have the world. Lois and Lucas are proof of this. This couple have a lot to learn about themselves &
each other but the one thing that never changes is the genuine love they have for each other. No matter what happens with them this never goes away. It is so deeply embeded
into each of their souls that no one can take it away.

I will warn you that you will laugh at a lot of moments in this book but you will also cry, so make sure you have tisses on hand & probably don’t read it in a public place like I did..
It could get akward with the stares you may get because you are possibly sobbing out loud..
I absolutely loved this book. I adored the characters & they were so well developed that it make the story just flow seemlesly.

If you like books with all the feels then you should get your one click finger ready for this one, you won’t be sorry you did!!

WOW!!! What a beautiful, complex, heart breaking, love story!!! I am just in awe with this story. This is such a beautiful friends to lovers romance that spans several years so there is sooo much history that it just makes you feel more. I thought of Lucas and Lois as two opposites ends of a magnet, they just couldn't seems to come together but just one slight adjustment and they would attract. Thoughout the story we get their love, loss, struggles, relationships and family drama and how they overcome all those obstacles. There were several times I got frustrated with some characters but that just put more emotion into the book and really just captivated me. Overall, this book was AMAZING! It was so well written!!! The author gave us details that make the reader really connect with the characters and truly, made you feel! This is a must read for sure!!!

Lucas is by far the best book Jay McLean has given us thus far. The character development was incredible. The storyline pulled so much emotion out of me through out the entirety of this book, I was at the 50% mark and felt like I had read a full length novel already, this book gave you so much.

I loved how much of Kathy we got as we travelled between the past and present. We also got to see another side of Tom, one that gave me more understanding of why he was they way he was in MTF. Their story, their families story was deep and meaningful and filled to the brim with love.

The seriousness of this storyline was broken up with moments of pure comedic genius when we were gifted with Little Logan and Lachlen's sometimes naughty but always hilarious insights and thoughts. With a visit from our favorite More Men to teach another generation the proper way to exact Mayhem this book had me laughing hard and often.

While there was a lot of humor to this story there was also a lot of heavy, emotional, and sometimes painful subject matter. We see parts of Lucas's story in MTF but here we see him and his journey on a whole other level. The love and sacrifices he makes for his family were inspiring. Lois's struggles, insecurities, and ultimately her strength made for beautiful, beautiful read. Her friendship with Lucas is one I envy, the love these two share evolved and grew throughout this entire book making for an exceptional read and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it.

This book almost killed me. Literally. One minute I'm enjoying a bowl of cereal while reading in the peace and quiet of my home after my kids have gone to school. Next thing I know, I've gotten to a part that has me bawling my eyes out and I've sucked a piece of cereal down and am choking on it. I had to take a break. It was an intense part. Those kind of emotions always get me.

Lucas was a story that I found myself not being able to put down. I got lost in this beautiful, breathtaking, heartbreaking story of two kids that you know are destined to be together. The lines of friendship and just plain fear prevent them from voicing the intense feelings that are bottled away inside of them both.

Lucas and Lois are meant to be together. From the very first meeting, you know these two are destined. Luke's family became Lois' almost instantly. Over the years, they become as close as two can be. They've been there for each other through everything. The teen years find them losing their way a little. So it's on them to remove the shades and find their way back to each other where they belong.

There were so many moments where I found myself with both unshed and shed tears. Breathing breaks had me wondering just how much more I could take. So many times I found myself cursing Jay McLean for inducing such emotions and the situations which brought them on. I usually devour anything she writes. Lucas was no different.
