Dominic Powers was looking for an assistant, someone who could be his second in command, but the candidates for the job were coming up lackluster until Sophia Vasco walked in. At that moment, his senses sat up and took notice; he hadn't had a partner for a while and lets say his last serious relationship had ended badly. Sophia wows him with her business acumen. Dominic, Dom for short, knows she is the best person for the job regardless of the fact that he is attracted to her; he knows he will have to keep that attraction under lock and key with plans never to act on it.
Sophia is attracted to Dom and can tell he is attracted to her too. She tries to hint to Dom that she would like to start a relationship with him but he seems oblivious. She plans to keep wowing him with her business skills until he sees her for the women she is. Submissive by nature, Sophia has only been in one relationship and as the story goes along you find out that he abused her even though he was her Master.
In earnest, they begin their true dominant-submissive relationship while on a business trip. Sophia's past comes to light so Dom knows he will have to correct her misconceptions on what a dominant-submissive relationship truly is. Sophia and Dom seem to have it all once they wind up in each others' arms. However, there is a snake in the paradise they have found together; Dom has an incident or two that make it appear like someone may be trying to harm him; the question of the hour is whether this is related to his business or his past coming back to bite him.
Kudos to A.D. Justice for writing Her Dom and showing the world the tender and romantic side to the dominant-submissive relationship. It was very tastefully done and still delivered the heat (and then some) we would expect from this kind of book! The characters were very well developed and seem like someone who could exist in our world. I found myself hoping Dom and Sophia would get their happy ending....and look forward to reading the next book in the series.
