To believe one person can change your destiny sounds absurd. But it happened to me… twice.
Ten years ago I had no idea what I wanted out of life, until I met Hannah Michaels. She was a computer-engineering student ready to conquer the social media world, and I was smitten. Even though I knew she was taken, I had to have her.
Being the big shot that I was, I didn’t let her status stand in my way. It wasn’t long before my hands were on her thighs and my name a whisper on her lips. This smart, sexy girl inspired me to greatness, helped me grow into the kind of man I never knew I wanted to be. The man I am today.
Too bad I hadn’t grown fast enough to keep her.
Moving on wasn’t easy, but I knew I had to let her go. Eventually, I found someone to share my days and nights with, and together we had a daughter. My life was nearly perfect until my world turned upside down.
A single father has challenges, and one of those is learning how to calmly deal with your child coming home in tears. I had no idea the day I pounded on my daughter’s classmate’s door, Hannah would be the one standing on the other side.
The wild, burning desire that rushed through my veins was unwanted, and yet impossible to ignore. Letting her in meant so much more this time around. Guilt hit me like a hammer. I hated myself. I hated her. The problem was I really didn’t hate her—I wanted her more than ever.
But this time around, I can’t have her.
This time it’s my status that stands in our way—and going up against myself just might be the hardest thing I’ve ever done.

This. Story. Was. Everything. This is Kim Karr's writing at its finest. Every word, every scene, every emotion. I could picture and feel it all. A story that turned out to be so deeply emotional in so many ways.
Hannah and Jace. They meet by chance. Become best friends by choice. All of the rest is just added bonuses until the one day when everything changes. Years later they happen to cross paths again, not in the best of circumstances, but the past comes and slaps them both in the face. The memories, the emotions, they all come back. Can they move forward and be friends?
I've missed stories like this that completely lock me in. They were both hurt in different ways. They'd both grown in different ways, matured in ways that adults do when they finally settle into adulthood when life has thrown the unimaginable your way. I couldn't get enough. I devoured every word and wanted more! Kim Karr definitely landed a touchdown with this one.

Jace Bennett is a single father. His wife died three years ago and now he's raising his daughter by himself. He owns a successful company, has good friends, but still he feels something is missing. If it wasn't for his daughter he would live for his work. His sad, lonely and he has a temper.
So when a boy picks a fight with his daughter at school, he is ready to go confront his parents, but what he didn't count on was the boy's mother was none other than his first love and also the women who broke his heart.
Hannah has had her own problems in the ten years since she has seen Jace. And what they had and lost changed them both and changed their lives. Hannah is smart and sassy and now she is a single parent too. So they were both not expecting to see the other again.

So how will this work, they have trust issues between them, guilt about so many things. They have a volatile relationship and its like they both can't get a grip on their emotions.
“Because feelings aren’t the issue. Trust is. And I don’t trust you.”
It seems like everything is just too much, to actually make a relationship. Jace needs to get his emotions straight and he needs to find out what it is he wants. Does he want Hannah, does he want a happily ever after. And what does Hannah want. She wants a new life, she wants to settle down and give her son a happy life. So is it something that they can do together? Or will they go on living separate lives.
I loved this story. I love stories with kids in it, and this one was no different. A Story told in the present and past, so you can see what happened in their past. The kids were adorable, I loved the scenes with Ethan, Fiona, Nick and Tess.
A Story filled with love, angst, sweetness, adorableness and so sexy. Awesome story. Can't wait to read the next one.

Kim Karr is a New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal Bestselling author.
She grew up in Rochester, NY and now lives in Florida with her husband and four kids. She's always had a love for reading books and writing. Being an English major in college, she wanted to teach at the college level but that was not to be. She went on to receive an MBA and became a project manager until quitting to raise her family. Kim currently works part-time with her husband and recently decided to embrace one of her biggest passions--writing.
Kim wears a lot of hats! Writer, book-lover, wife, soccer-mom, taxi driver, and the all around go-to person of her family. However, she always finds time to read. One of her favorite family outings was taking her kids when they were little to the bookstore or the library. Today, Kim's oldest child is seventeen and no longer goes with her on these, now rare and infrequent, outings. She finds that she doesn't need to go on them anymore because she has the greatest device ever invented--a Kindle.
Kim likes to believe in soul mates, kindred spirits, true friends, and Happily-Ever-Afters. She loves to drink champagne, listen to music, and hopes to always stay young at heart.
