Nia Martins believes a fresh start will help her leave her traumatic past behind. Moving to a different country, she seeks to shake off her demons by doing the one thing that sets her free from her destructive thoughts – teaching dance. But change doesn't come easy, and all Nia really wants is to take the next breath without the perpetual suffocation that follows. Reeves Mitchell has looked death in the eyes so many times it’s become habitual. That is, until his best friend's life was on the line. When the one thing he feared the most turns into reality, all he can do is pick up the pieces of his loss. As Reeves tries to live with the constant thought of “what if” gnawing at the back of his mind, he persistently and steadily builds a thick wall around himself. Their solitary lives are all they have—until fate brings them together. Nia and Reeves’ new friendship helps make life, shadowed by the ghosts of their past, more bearable. But as their relationship deepens and new, suppressed feelings emerge between them, are they willing to retrace their steps back to where wounded hearts can be broken once more?

Review by: Tatia

Heartbreak. Mourning. Pain. Blame. Guilt.
These are all of the emotions that I felt in just the epilogue. If that was just the first few pages, I knew this book was going to be a roller coaster ride of emotions. I was not wrong.

Reeves and Nia's first encounter was memorable if nothing else. Mistakingly given the same hotel room, it's a meeting neither will forget. A random encounter between two beautiful strangers. Only, what is it called when you keep running into that person? Chance encounters between two people that turn into so much more.

Nia is strong, confident, beautiful, funny- only she's been a shell of herself because of her life-altering past. She moved away from home thinking that would help her move on. Dancing - that's her true escape. She just has to stay busy outside of the studio. That's so much easier said than done.

Reeves is every girls "G.I. Joe" fantasy come to life. When he's not away working with a client, he's helping his friend, Jake, around his bar. He doesn't lack attention from women throwing themselves at him either. They temporarily help him forget his painful past that often seeps into his present. It's something that he'll never be able to forget or un-see. Little does he know that someone is about to walk in to his life that will end up being the best distraction.

Retrace is a wonderful story about two people helping each other move on from a guilt-bearing past over situations they really had no control over. Thinking they could have prevented what happened, how do you move on from something of that magnitude?

"It's her - my best source of escapism, in all possible ways."

This story doesn't lack steaminess either. They're so good together, but sometimes it's impossible to see what is right in front of your face. They're both stubborn and hard-headed. Will Nia and Reeves be able to look past everything that is holding them back from being happy together? Sigal Ehrlich did a another fantastic job creating an emotion, angst-filled story that you won't be able to put down.
