I was super excited to see this book dealt with more "everyday" kind of people. Noah is a construction worker, so I loved that blue collar job aspect to the story. But the book wasn't exactly what I was hoping for. The first half of the story seemed to revolve around the remodel of this house than the actual story of the characters. There was too much detail about flooring, walls, fixtures and appliances. I just wanted to know more about the characters. The story does pick up during the second half and we get more about the characters vs the remodel.
As far as the characters go, I enjoyed them. They felt like real people. I did have a hart time with the way Noah was helping Finley. It just seemed a little too far fetched, to me. There were a few laugh out loud moments throughout the book. I wish the author would have run with the romcom idea because there could have been a lot of potential for laugh with the remodel.
Overall, I think the book has a great foundation but fell a little short for what I was hoping for. I thought the story was really well written and had interesting characters. There is enough there, I would be willing to give another book by this author a chance.
