Although this is the seventh installment in the second chances series, it can easily be read as a standalone. I haven't read any of the previous books in this series, but thoroughly enjoyed Defending Hayden.
This book encompasses several romance genres, that I love to read including romantic suspense, contemporary romance and sport romance.
This is Derek and Hayden's story. Both have been hurt in the past and are scared to love again. at times this story is quite emotional and heartbreaking.
I really enjoyed these characters, they were relate-able, likeable, believable and fallible. The story was told from dual point of view of the hero and heroine. Derek and Hayden have a chemistry that jumps off the page and the loves scenes are hot! I enjoyed watching their relationship grow as their feelings built.
This book is well written, engaging and entertaining. Overall Defending Hayden, is a sweet, steamy, entertaining read with a touch of angst and suspense. I look forward to reading the previous and future books in this series. There were several characters that appeared within this book, who have yet to find their happy ever after and have their story told.
