My brother brought a Marine war hero home from the gym for Sunday dinner. His body was perfectly sculpted, he was a Marine, a biker, and very handsome. I immediately found him intriguing. It wasn't any of those attributes that garnered my full attention. It was when he said he protected all people - at home and abroad - that he had my interest.
Because I need protected.

I am new to the Selected Sinners world. Alec's book is just my third, but it's my favorite I think. Just because A-Train's story is so original. So heartfelt and so touching.
Alec is a Marine thru & thru. Being a soldier isn't just what he does...it's what and who he is.
As I'm sure with most men who serve their country; Alec's life - his whole world is put through a sh*tstorm.
As I began this book I found myself falling hard for this soldier, this man, who puts so much of himself on the line for the people he cares for: For strangers he's never met.
I admired Alec and his ability to stand firm in his beliefs and to believe in his own abilities. I also enjoyed his inner dialogue very much.
You don't get much sweeter than Katie and it was entertaining as he** to watch her wrap a bad ass Marine around her finger. But mostly I was happy that Alec found some sweetness in Katie.
Alec's and Katie's old fashioned beliefs was so refreshing and wonderful. This world could use a whole lot more of those kind values.
And the Sunday dinners made me laugh so hard I cried.
Hard Corps isn't just another good installment to The Selected Sinners series. This book is the heart and soul of a good man struggling to come to grips with things that he's done and to understand that its okay to need someone sometimes. That it's okay to forgive yourself.
Scott Hildreth gives us a story so different and so touching and so honest, it's impossible to put down.
(I might've swore a little when I reached the end just because I didn't want it to be over.)
