Lost Rider by Harper Sloan • FMR REVIEW

BLURB:

In Lost Rider, the first Western romance in New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Harper Sloan’s Coming Home series, an injured rodeo star encounters an old flame but will she be just what he needs to get back in the saddle?

Maverick Austin Davis is forced to return home after a ten-year career as a rodeo star. After one too many head injuries, he’s off the circuit and in the horse farming business, something he’s never taken much of a shine to, but now that it’s his late father’s legacy, familial duty calls. How will Maverick find his way after the only dream he ever had for himself is over?

Enter Leighton Elizabeth James, an ugly duckling turned beauty from Maverick’s childhood—his younger sister’s best friend, to be exact, and someone whose heart he stomped all over when she confessed her crush to him ten years back. Now Leighton is back in Maverick’s life, no longer the insecure, love-stricken teen—and Maverick can’t help but take notice. Sparks fly between them, but will Leighton be able to open her heart to the one man who broke it all those years ago?

Written in the vein of Diana Palmer and Lindsay McKenna, this Texas-set series is filled with sizzle, heart, and plenty of cowboys!

Well… where to start.. I absolutely adored Leighton & Maverick. There quite literally was nothing I didn’t love!
It was sexy, angsty, emotional and just damn awesome!

Maverick is coming home after 10 years on the rodeo circuit & is about to get a lesson in healing old wounds. Both his own &
those he has caused others. Namely Leightons. He ripped her heart out and stomped all over it before he left. Now he is back & he is going to
have to face some hard home truths.

Maverick is just too damn sexy for his own good and boy does he know how to make a girl swoon.. I was swoony right along there with Leighton.
And Leighton is stunning. She has a beautiful soul and an open heart. When she loves, it is with everything she has got.
There were some awesome scenes in this book, some had me laughing out loud & others were so damn sexy it bordered on erotic. Add in the
emotion of the story line & Harper Sloan has a winner! The only sad part about this book is the end, I really did not want it to end. I just wanted
it to go on and on. I am seriously hoping that Quinn & Clay get their own books because their stories are ones that also seriously need to be told.
And I wouldn’t be upset if there were updates on Maverick & Leighton added in as well!

The development of the story line was smooth and seamless and the growth of the characters was outstanding. It wasn’t rushed and was easy to
follow along and feel the moments as they happened right along with the characters. Even though I say I wanted more, at the end, the story was
complete and all loose ends were tied up. I just wasn’t ready for it to end.

If you want to read a story that will have you feeling all the emotions alongside the characters that will leave you feeling like you have just watched
the book play out in your head then you seriously want to one click yourself this book!!

5 easy stars!

I forgot how much I enjoy Harper Sloan's books. Her style of writing is so smooth and easy flowing, before you know it, you're completely lost in the story.

I loved everything about Lost Rider. I can't say this story was just about the two main characters. While Maverick and Leighton are both lost, I'd even say Maverick's brother and sister are as well. Maverick left home as soon as he could. Getting away from his father was his top goal. Getting to bull ride and pursue his one true passion was a plus. He left Leighton, Quinn, and Clay behind. Quinn and Clay understood, but Leighton was hurt by him before he took off. She's never really been able to move on from Mav. When he returns to town 10 years later, that hurt just grows.

When Mav returned to town, I laughed. Hard. He dug his own grave. He opened his mouth and kept on running it, not giving one single thought as to what he was saying. Maverick and Leighton were both lost in their own ways. Who knew that it would take a reunion of sorts to help them find peace with everything from the past.

I couldn't get enough. Finding out all of their secrets, seeing everyone come to terms with them, seeing everything brought to light, it was all part of the transformation. It couldn't have been done better.

I enjoyed this book, because hey it's Harper Sloan. But for me the book only started picking up so half way through the book

Maverick is the middle child in the Davis Family. Maverick has been living with abuse from an early age and not that he is old enough he is leaving this small town and following his dream of becoming a bull rider. But first he had to leave behind everything that is holding him back. And one of those is Leighton Elizabeth James. And the way he did it was so bad that he made sure that she will never have feelings for him again.

Leighton James has always been in love with Maverick Davis and she is ready to let him know how she feels. But then Mav said the most aweful things to her and broke her heart and then he left town.

Now Maverick is back in town. The person that made his life hell had died and his bull riding career is practically over, so he is back in Town and maybe he can get back the women he has always been in love.
But will Leighton be able to forgive Maverick and will Maverick be able to get over his past and move on to the future that he has dreamt of having?

This book is about second chances and about overcoming broken hearts and an terrible childhood and about finding out if you are really meant for each other and will you have your happily ever after.
