GOODBYE PARADISE by Sarina Bowen • BOOK RELEASE & REVIEW

BLURB:

Most people called it a cult. But for twenty years, Josh and Caleb called it home.

In Paradise, there is no television. No fast food. Just long hours of farm work and prayer on a dusty Wyoming ranch, and nights in a crowded bunkhouse. The boys of the Compound are kept far from the sinners’ world.
But Joshua doesn’t need temptation to sin. His whole life, he’s wanted his best friend, Caleb. By day they work side by side. Only when Josh closes his eyes at night can they be together the way he craves.
It can never be. And his survival depends on keeping his terrible desires secret.
Caleb has always protected Josh against the worst of the bullying at the Compound. But he has secrets of his own, and a plan to get away — until it all backfires.
Josh finds himself homeless in a world that doesn’t want him. Can Caleb find him in time? And will they find a place of safety, where he can admit to Josh how he really feels?
Warning: Contains a hot male/male romance, copious instances of taking the Lord's name in vain, and love against the kitchen counterThis book was previously released under the title: In Front of God & Everyone.

OMG!!! All the feels!!! This book will hit you straight in the heart. This story was phenomenal. There were times I had trouble reading through those pesky tears coming out of my eyes. Caleb and Joshua have definitely left their mark on my soul. The storyline was incredible and flowed effortlessly from start to finish. The emotion just pours off the pages, testament to the love that was dedicated to writing this story. These two characters have to not only have to learn how to be with each other, they also have to learn to live in the outside world. This is hands down the best m/m book I have ever read. I cannot wait to see where this series will lead next.

"I've always wanted you. And I've always tried not to." Gaahhhhhh these two killed me. The forbidden factor was thrilling. Raised to serve everyone else, full of fire to belong to no one. Secret glances and the desire to what more out of life has the day dreaming suddenly becoming a reality. A twist of fate sets the wheels in motion and suddenly everything they thought was sinful becomes and indulgence to great to refuse.

Josh and Caleb are adorably sweet. The way Caleb takes the reigns and slowly walks Josh through a world that he cant believe exists. I loved the interactions between these two. They were caring when needed and strong when things got rough. Navigating through the real world vs. the religious confines they were used to shows the strength of both these two characters.

This book was my first book by Sarina as an independent author. (I've read her co-written books) I love her writing style because there is such an fluid flow with her words. The amount of character development to angst is perfect and reflects her capability as an author. I liked reading the growth of these two characters and seeing them flourish. This book was an easy read that was well done.

What an inspiring story of love and perseverance.  Caleb and Josh were born into a world full of double standards, backwards thinking, and power based on fear.   Their love story were hard but they did their best to survive.

Once out into the real world they found their new found freedom didn't necessarily erase the teachings and lessons of their past.  Their journey and growth through the story was both beautiful and ponient.  The sense of family not necessarily the ones of blood but the one you make for yourself was inspiring.

A beautiful story of life time love.  Sarina did it beautifully once again.
