HER SECRET, HIS SURPRISE by Paula Altenburg ♥ FMR REVIEW

ABOUT Her Secret, His Surprise:

***This is a Red-Hot Bliss Title! As such, it contains sexual content***

Conflict of interest is an understatement…

Since being disowned by her strict father, Cass Stone has spent her adulthood trying to prove him wrong. Her drive has led to more success than her family ever thought she’d achieve, and life is looking great. Not even an incredible and mysterious one night stand that leaves her a single mom can trip her up...until the father of her baby stumbles back into her life, as sexy and unreliable as ever.

Logan Alexander hasn’t forgotten the night he spent with Cass two years ago, but he never expects to end up undercover as her assistant. His job saves lives—like it should have saved his brother—and he can’t afford complications. It’s difficult enough to maintain his cover as a carefree wanderer when he realizes his attraction to Cass hasn’t faded...and then he meets Cass’s daughter.

This book wasn't somthing that I expected. This is the first book I've read by this author and although I struggled with it some it still over all was a good book. Not going to lie it took me a little bit to get into the book but once I did I couldn't put it down. There is a underlying of mystery to this book. There is also hope and drama. What do you do when a one night stand that you never thought you'd see again comes back into your life? When that one night stand leaves you with a unexpected pregnancy? This is what this book takes on.

Cass is a single mother as a result of a one night stand.

Logan was the one night stand.

Now a twist if fate has them meet up again in somewhat secret circumstances.
Cass is Logans boss but she has no clue about his secret that could change everything.

This book started off at a steady pace, then it slowed down in the middle and hit it's stride again in the last 3rd.

Cass and Logan are both head strong and career driven. They have different experiences in life and this shows in each interaction they have. Because of the complexity of their situation there are a lot of undercurrents in their conversations, but only one of them is aware of it.

The author has done a good job showing the different sides to her characters personalities. The chemistry between Logan and Cass never diminishes and the love they have for their daughter despite the intricacies they face shines through and comes above everything else.

I enjoyed this story. The characters and the storyline is consistent and interesting and I liked the dynamics of the other relationships each Cass and Logan have with others such as Logan's grandmother and Cass's friend Patricia. Those relationships added another layer and also a bit of lightness to the storyline.

This is a great holiday read and worth one clicking if you like a good romance!

Strong, motivated and very driven....that's what Cass knows for sure about herself. She's on the fastback to success in her career and has no plans of stopping. Logan knows he's sexy and devilishly hands on...he also knows that he could get any woman to go home with him. When theses to meet, sparks fly and the idea of "more" than some friendly conversation is all that's on their mind. Both determined to keep it casual and simple, they decide that 1 night together could scratch the itch that has been bugging them both all night. Little did they know that that one night would tie them together forever.

Fast forward some years and now all of the secrets that were ok to keep for that one night are about to come crashing down on Cass & Logan. When a job opportunity has Logan suddenly working for Cass, the tension and heat is about to get turned way up between them. As much as Logan wants her to remember their night together, Cass is determined to keep the results of that night under wraps until she can muster up the courage to tell him her biggest secret of all.

This book was the first from this author for me. It was hard for me to get into at first and I struggled with the plot a little. I liked the story line and the idea that these two could find each other again and try to make something happen. The story seemed a little slow at parts and I really felt that more could have been done to spice up the relationship. Over all it was an easy read once I got into it.

Cass and Logan's story was a nice, quick, and easy read.  I love a good accidental pregnancy story and this one didn't disappoint.  It had enough twists and turns to keep me interested without being too over the top.

I loved that it was based in Canada and that their jobs were ones I'd never heard of before. So many books are based on so many of the same things they all run together but I know this one will stand out.

Great storyline, characters you can relate to, and the beautiful Olivia. This book has everything you need for a fun summer read.

MEET Paula

Paula Altenburg grew up in rural Nova Scotia knowing that at some point in her life she was likely to be a fiction writer. Swapping Louis L’Amour and Zane Grey books with her father guaranteed she wasn’t going to be the next Jane Austen, much to the dismay of her English teacher mother.

A degree in Social Anthropology from the University of King’s College and Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, again meant writing was the logical (meaning only) career path for her, although it did confirm her belief that learning is a life-long experience. She’s taken business courses, writing courses, and physiology of aquatic animals courses, all at the university level and all for fun.

She has worked in the Aerospace industry, although now makes writing her full-time career. Happily married, with two terrific sons, she continues to live in rural Nova Scotia but makes a point of traveling as much as she can.

She reads in all genres, but fantasy and contemporary romance are her writing loves.
