Review By Heather
I feel the need to start this review with a great big huge sigh.... Aaahhhhhhh!
If you have not yet read any of the Barringer series yet, I ask, what are you waiting for? Gage can most certainly be read as a standalone but I think once you read all about him you will be left wanting more and take yourself off to check out Luke's story!
Now let's talk about Gage! He is a single man who lives in Montana and is a logger. He keeps himself to himself but is known to be a bit of a ladies man!
Summer live in California and is a singer looking for a much contract for her and her band. But life doesn't always go to plan and Summer finds herself packing up her life and moving to Montana to run the restaurant her grandfather left her.
When Gage meets Summer he is (as his brother Seth puts it) 'gobsmacked'!!
Both Gage and Summer fall hard and fast but Summers past soon catches up with her and she has some tough choices to make.
She is under pressure from her greedy mother who wants the money she feels she is entitled to and also from hee old band and band manager.
Gage knows she has choices to make and he doesn't want her to wake up down the track and regret staying with him, he knows it needs to be her decision so he says nothing, even though he wants to beg her to choose him.
This is a story about 2 people that never saw love coming, they were not looking for it but it found them and smacked them up side the head in a big way.
Tess Oliver has ticked all the boxes to make this story absolutely fabulous, it has sexy/steamy, hot, happy, angst, hot, funny, a great story line, did I mention hot? Hehehe yeah I adored Gage and Summers story, definitely well worth the time and the price of the book to read!!
5 Stars . . . Heather
EXCERPT:
He looked at me a long moment.
"I want you so fucking bad, Summer, it hurts." He combed his long
hair back with his fingers and chuckled at some inside joke. "You have no
idea how bad."
"Then what's holding you back?
It seems to me--"
He shook his head. "Can't
explain it to myself." His dark lashes dropped as he stared down at the
floor, and when he lifted his face to me, I realized that I was falling hard
for him.
"I guess I don't want to scare
you off." He shook his head. "Not that I'm scary in bed," he
quickly amended. "I don't want to come on too strong. Hell, I guess I'm
just trying to make a good impression."
"Stop with the good impression
shit. I want a lasting impression, Gage."
His pale blue eyes flickered in the
light as he looked at me. "I can do lasting." He crossed the room in
two steps. His arms curled around my back, and he pulled me against him. His
mouth covered mine. The kiss was long and hard and driven by that intense
longing that had been building up between us. He took hold of my good hand and
walked me down the short hall to my bedroom. He pushed open the door with his
boot and led me inside.
