Book title: A Little Too Hot
Author: Lisa Desrochers
Series: A Little Too Far #3
Release date: January 21, 2014
From USA Today bestselling author Lisa Desrochers comes the third book in her sizzling new adult series.
If you play with fire …
Tossed out of college and cut off by her parents, Samantha West is in pretty dire straits. So when her rocker best friend hooks her up with a job dancing at a gentlemen's club, who is she to turn it down? Plus, there are rules to dancing at Benny's: No touching, keep your clothes on at all times, and never get closer than three feet. Unfortunately for Sam, her first private client makes her want to break every single one of them.
Harrison Yates is scorching hot, but he's got a past that involves being left at the altar not too long ago. Sam is determined to make him forget about his ex, but when she makes her move, it flings her life into a spiral of chaos she never saw coming. Because Harrison Yates isn't who he seems to be. And his secret will probably get her killed.
4 stars!!
Lisa Desrochers has done it again!! She’s delivered an incredibly sexy, thrilling, and heart-racing third installment to this series, one that I’d recommend to any reader who’s a fan of the NA genre and/or looking for books with plot twists you’ll never see coming! Though it’s not my favorite in the series (as Lexi and Trent have a special place in my heart), it most definitely is worth the read.
Samantha is fresh out of ideas. She’s flunked out of college, lost her boyfriend to her best friend, and kicked out of her home. What’s a poor, destitute ex-college student to do?
She quickly becomes one of the top dancers at a night club and it’s there she meets Harrison. He’s intense, mysterious, not to mention drool-worthy!! She breaks a club rule for him - letting Harrison touch her.
Their connection is sizzling and though insta-love/insta-lust is normally a turn-off for me, it worked considerably well here.
Then I got a little...bored. I mean, I could totally connect with Sam when she was dancing but in the back of my mind I started to wonder where the the story was going to go. No worries though!! At around 28%, the book took a turn I NEVER saw coming!! I mean it was literally the last thing I could imagine happening, and the author went there. I was shocked speechless, but most of all, impressed and curious to see where the story would go.
“This is real. This is all real. What I hoped would be a mindblowing fling with a totally hot stranger has turned into this nightmare.”
Sam is a great female lead! I thought I knew her character and personality after reading about her in book 1, but it turns out I didn’t know a thing! She’s feisty, resilient, and street-smart. Harrison, on the other hand, was a bit of a turnoff after the 28% twist. I definitely understood his struggle between wanting Sam and his job, but his inconsistent attitude towards her drove me a little insane. Nevertheless, he’s responsible and loyal, two qualities hardly found in many male leads.
If you’re looking for a fast-paced and action-packed book, try this one! Better yet, try the entire series!
