This is how you start out a new year! I've heard many great things about this author. I even have most of her books already. This is just another instance where I was skeptical about the hype surrounding a story and author. Obviously, when everyone continues to rave about her, you just need to take the leap and give it a try. I wish I'd done that sooner.
Mira and Lark. Angst. That's the best way to describe their story. Two friends. It's hard to say when they became more. But they both know when they became nothing. Their story was a bit heartbreaking. You want them to have their chance, but fate keeps intervening and preventing that. One thing after another until finally Mira NEEDS him more than she needs air.
I absorbed every word. This book became a part of me. Attached to my hand, taunting me every free second that I had. If someone had told me that there was so much angst to these stories then I probably would have loved Aly Martinez by now. I've learned my lesson. I now see myself going on a binge ASAP.

"For loving me. For taking care of me. For understanding me... And most of all, for giving me a beautiful life." SWOON! Jeremy & Mira are all kinds of sass rolled into hot steamy sexy. They are as hard headed as two people can be but genuine and loving to everyone around them. I am the biggest sucker for second chance love and this book didn't disappoint. It offered me just the right amount of angsty snit to keep me reading with a fire under my tail. While soothing the burn with unlimited swoony goodness.
I realize now that his is book 2 in a series but I swear it didn't change anything for me haven't not read the first. This was every much a solid stand alone and was perfectly written. Aly is one of my favorite authors because the way she delivers a story is genuine and pure. She can pull at your heartstrings while slapping your a$$ with lusty talk all in one sentence. This book was wonderfully written and awesome to read. I completely recommend this book and Aly Martinez as an author.

so... What can I say. I devoured the first book in this series (via audible, lol) and couldn't wait for the next one. And I absolutely loved Lark. From the minute the story started I loved him. Mira, well let's just say it took a while.
Mira and Lark knew each other when they were younger. But Mira was with his best friend, so he knew she wasn't his, but time and time again her boyfriend cheated on her and that's when they got together. But when push comes to shove, Mira choose the douchebag boyfriend, and Lark left broken hearted.
But the weirdest thing is that both of them wanted each other but they both thought the other was just with them for a good time.
17 year later, Lark is divorced with adorable twin girls and Mira's life is exploding again. And the only one who can save her is Lark.
This story is told in the past and present. And it is a bit heartbreaking reading their story and what they both went through. Now they are different people. Even though Lark wants nothing to do with her, he can't help but be drawn to her again. But deep down he's also afraid of getting involved again, because this time if she walks away how will he recover
A book filled with heartache, pain, love, sadness, laughter, suspense, action everything you expect from this series. So why not 5 stars, I took off half a star, because it took me almost till the end of the book to like Mira, and yes I know people make mistakes, but I guess I wanted her to pick him from the start!
Man I can't wait for the next one... Johnson... I'm waiting for you!!!!
