This is why I always like trying out new-to-me authors. Every once in a while, I come across a rare gem. A book that absolutely blows me away. Wild Abandon was one of those stories. About a girl looking for her forever love and a guy who has a predestined future. They were only supposed to be friends. Sometimes fate has other plans.
I did not expect to get into this story and be so completely absorbed by it. I wanted to be Crystal, live the life she was experiencing. From the sporadic move across the country to living in the heart of Napa Valley and all of its beauty. Through the pages I was able to experience it with her. I couldn't stop. No matter what I did, I had to be reading. I couldn't keep the ever-present grin off of my face. I laughed. I gasped. And when all of the puzzle pieces came together and I figured something out, I had tears in my eyes, for Ed, for Nate, and even for Crystal. Everything about it was hauntingly beautiful. In fact, I loved it so much that as soon as I read the last page I flipped right to the front and started reading it again. It's that kind of story. When reading it once isn't enough to grasp all of the beauty within the pages. I wanted to go through it again, make sure I highlighted all of my favorite parts, and highlight some new ones that I maybe didn't see the beauty in the first time. Jeannine Colette is an author that I'll be on the lookout for more from. Wild Abandon is absolutely exquisite!
