DAMN. CLIFF. HANGER. Umm, yeah… I was so ready to climb to the roof of my apartment building, throw my iPad and watch it die. Okay…I would NEVER do that lol but I really wanted to at that moment. GRRR!!! Despite the life threatening cliff hanger it leaves you on, Torrent is quite the enjoyable read. What first drew me to this book, was the original storyline. I never heard of or read a book that's similar. Then when I started reading it, all the different components within the plot grabbed my attention from the get-go. I loved unraveling the characters and getting to experience their story through both points of view. Torrent is not just a story about love, pain, loss and revenge. It's also an illustration of how one decision can change everything.
Growing up, Alex didn't have the best childhood. Behind her family's status and money, something darker lurked. For eight years, her life was filled with guilt, shame, hatred, and self-loathing. All caused by a secret she kept hidden all those years and a life altering decision she made on someone else's life. When we first meet her, she seems to just be going along with life instead of actively participating in it. Like she had given up. But that soon changes once she finally decides to take ahold of her life and live. On this day, two things happen. She is kidnapped & given a second chance. Another shot at love, life, and redemption.
