This book has it all including steamy romance and intrigue.  The book flowed so smoothly and was so engrossing I didn't want to put it down.

The books starts off in the middle of a car chase - Carew is being chased by Zoran and has a horrific wreck.  Rewind a little bit and we find out that Carew is a cryptographer working for an elite group of investigators, occasionally she takes a field assignment when her expertise is needed.  She likes the danger that the spy game presents.

Everything was going according to plan until she meets the body guard of the target.  It is apparent at their first meeting that the chemistry they share is recognized by them both.  Something about her puts Zoran on edge and he's keeping a close eye on her.  After she's knocked out the target and absconds with some plans for a computer program he is hot on her trail.

Fastforward back to the crash - Zoran cuts her out of the car and takes her back to his home hidden deep in the Croatian forests.  Zoran's home is very secure to put it mildly.  He convinces his boss, the target, that Carew was killed in the accident.  You might be asking yourself why he would do that.  He plans on teaching her how to respect and obey him after she tells him what she was really doing.

Carew is not the pushover that Zoran thinks she is and she gives him a run for his money.  The battle of wills between the two is epic.  As Carew gets to know Zoran, she understands that he isn't quite what he appears to be.  Carew can't help but fall a little in love with Zoran.  The story comes to a climax when Zoran's boss, the target, realizes that Zoran lied about Carew's death.  You'll have to read the book if you want more details.

The author did a great job blending the romance and intrigue aspects of the story.  The character development and the surrounding story lines made the story that much more enjoyable.  I can't wait to read the rest of Christine's books.
