TIMID
Lark Cove Book 2
By Devney Perry
Release Day – SEPT 4

BLURB:

Willa Doon has always been shy. Her quiet demeanor was something she’s always embraced. That is, until Jackson Page moves to town. The one man she desperately wants to take notice struggles to remember her name. Year after year, Willa stands by, watching as the bartender slash playboy drowns his demons in beer and sex. Then one night, he shows up at her door, suddenly aware that the girl he’s seen around Lark Cove is now a beautiful woman. Except what he doesn’t remember is that this visit isn’t his first. They spent a night together once before. A night he’s forgotten, thanks to a bottle of tequila. A night that crushed a timid girl’s heart, and set a broken man on the path to heal them both.

I really wanna go and live in Lark Cove.. I read book 1 and loved the sound of this fictional town, now I have red book 2 and I am absolutely in love with it!
Willa is a sweetheart with a huge sense of humour and Jackson is well, Jackson is the man every woman wants to tame!

This is romance is definitely of the slow burn variety and the journey Willa and Jackson travel is highly entertaining. I love the relationship Willa has with her parents and the way she can go to them with anything. They are the parents that break the mould. If all parents were like them, the world would be a better place!
Hazel is Jackson’s mum, not by blood but by choice and boy does she take that job seriously. She has no biological children but she knows how to go all “mumma bear” like no other!

This is one of those stories where the plot is fascinating, the characters are loveable and once you start reading you won’t want to stop. As I said before, it is a slow burn romance but the anticipation is so worth the reward for these two. If it was a rushed journey it wouldn’t have been as entertaining.

I would highly recommend this book to everyone that will listen and although it can be read as a standalone, I would suggest you read book 1 too, just because it is so, so good!

I'm telling you, Ms. Perry is fast becoming one of my favorites! The title doesn't perfectly play into the story, but it perfectly describes it. The characters, the pace- it all makes for the best story.
Shy and quiet. That's how I would describe Willa. She has dreams, but don't we all. She never imagines those dreams are anywhere near the realm of possible. Not since the main character in those dreams always calls her by the wrong name. Jackson enjoys his life. He has Thea and Hazel, let's not forget Charlie too. They're all he needs. Until he sees a mystery girl in Thea's sketch pad. Whoever this mysterious girl is with the wild mane of hair, he has to find her. Only...she's not at all who he expects. It's always those that are right in front of us that we never see.
I loved every word. Some parts weren't pretty or easy to read. Others flowed as smooth as silk. Timid described me to a "T" at times while at others I couldn't turn the pages quick enough. A story that I never wanted to end, it was everything! Ms. Perry has done it yet again!

EXCERPT:

I scooched my chair in toward the table, trying to put a little more space between Jackson and me, but he wasn’t having it. He put both hands on the back of my chair, then leaned in close. “Hi, Willa.” “Uh . . . hi.” I shivered at the heat from his chest on my bare shoulders. Why was he standing so close? My parents were right there. Our table was one of four tall, square ones in the center of the room and there was plenty of space between tables. Plenty. P-L-E-N-T-Y. But was Jackson using any of that plentiful space? No sirree. He stayed pressed against the back of my chair, like there were only three inches of usable space behind him, not three feet. My skin prickled he was so close. I tried to nudge my chair forward again but it barely moved. Sweat beaded on my temples and I pulled in a shaking breath. Jackson’s woodsy, rich scent was everywhere. It overpowered the stale beer, pizza and peanuts, and I inhaled a deep breath, unable to resist. Sexy Hot Forest. That’s what they’d call his cologne.
