GUEST REVIEW!
Rating: 4 stars

Portia Thorpe raised by a governess and her irresponsible father.  She has only known the safety and peace of Valhalla, their estate in England.  Portia’s father has only one goal – to keep Valhalla even if it means he has to use Portia as a means to an end.  She knows it is only a matter of time before her father’s gambling will force her hand.

Enter Lord Edgar Salisbury who Portia agrees to wed.  Portia with her governess (Miss Clairon) and her father travel to the Salisbury estate to meet his family.  Portia begins to have doubts about the upcoming nuptials after meeting her future brother-in-law (Phillip) and receiving a mysterious note from a “benevolent party”.  Thus begins a chain of events that direct Portia’s fate.

Buckle up for the twists and turns this plot will take.  The characters are very likeable and you catch quick glimpses of their hidden depths throughout the story.  The conclusion of story feels like the pause between the first and second acts of a play.
