Ok so when I first started reading this book I honestly rolled my eyes thinking this was another friends to lovers/love triangle kind of story.
Well did I get blown away or what??
Penelope Ward has written an sophisticated story about learning to let go of the past and see what is right in front of you. She has taken 3 highly intelligent characters and thrown them into a complex situation that plays out like a big screen movie.
Channing is a guy who is not only good looking but has it all together and is a pretty successful functioning member of society. Amber is a beautiful woman who has had a rough trot but is learning to stand tall and be proud of who she is and what she accomplished in her own right. She is caring and compassionate and loves with her whole heart and then some. Then there is Rory.. I am going to leave you to read about him and see where he fits into all of this.
I loved the sexiness and the humour that brings this story together and I love the substance of all of the characters involved in the story. Every single one of them has a part to play and are completely relevant to the storyline.
There are secrets and revelations that come out and the characters handle them like the adults they are and not spoiled people that always get what they want. In fact and one point, I was seriously wondering if anyone in this story was going to get what they wanted!
This book will make you laugh and make you cry but overall leave you feeling like you have just read a beautiful and memorable story.
Well worth sneaking away for the afternoon & having a read!!

This author writes some of the best books, with the best characters and the best storylines! I just can't get enough! From the very beginning, I was hooked!. I loved the friends to lovers/second chance romance feel to the book. It gave me the angst that I love feeling in a book. It's the will they/ won't they feeling and it is something that always holds my attention. I thought the story was well written and I loved the humor in the story but there were also the moments of sorrow that brought the book full circle. While I did love the story, it also felt like a typical Penelope Ward book. I have read almost all of her books and would I like to see something maybe a little different, sure, but this is what she is good at so why stop. If you are huge fan of this author, like me, this is a fantastic book and I highly recommend it!
