description

Melissa Jones is at a spa with her best friend Elaine and getting some relaxing done. It’s hinted that she’s had a pretty tough life so far and is using this one-week vacation to recharge. On the first night there, she meets the hottest guy she’s ever seen and she’s flattered that he gives her the time of day out of all the gorgeous women in the bar. He’s different from the usual type she goes for, but YOLO right? She has the best sex in her life that night and after they make a mutual agreement to meet again, so begins her one-week stand with Derek, the guy from the bar.

description

Derek Alexander is top in his field: ex-Marine, ex-cop, and a top-notch investigator. He sees Melissa in the bar and both give into their desires that night, and continue to see each other for the entire time Melissa is staying at the spa. These two are sexy, fun, and HOT together, but in a week’s worth, both are reluctant to let each other go. They slowly start to reveal little details about themselves and learn more about one another. When the week’s time is up, both reluctantly part ways, knowing their feelings for each other run deeper than just sex.

Overall, I enjoyed it! There was this twist I never saw coming and got my jaw to drop, and I liked how suspenseful the plot got, but there were definite letdowns that made this book more of a “meh” read. Perhaps the biggest one is how fast their feelings developed. I absolutely loathe insta-love and though it was more of insta-lust, they knew they were in love with each other by the end of that week. To me, it’s extremely unbelievable, especially since they spent 99% of that time sexing it up in the bed, in the pool, against the wall, etc…For a very short book, there was a LOT packed into the story and I don’t know whether or not that’s something to commend the author for or if it should have been more elaborately detailed and explained in more pages.

To sum it up in one sentence: I was entertained but the story is nothing too extraordinary. If you’re looking for a fast paced book with minimal angst and loads of sexy times, then this is your book/series!
