Blurb

I shouldn’t have remembered him.
He was just a guy who walked through a restaurant. I didn't know his name. We never made eye contact. There was no connection between us at all.
But I could feel him.
The tingle down my spine. The command in his presence. The snap of tension in the air around him. That was the first time I saw him, and I was captivated.
The second time was different.
He was in the mysterious back elevator of my apartment building. Our eyes met for a fleeting second before the doors closed, and I was staggered. My breath was robbed. My senses on high alert. My body hummed.
That was just the beginning.
He was the leader of the mafia. I was about to fall in love with him, and his name…

I didn't begin writing until after undergraduate college. There'd been storylines and characters in my head all my life, but it came to a boiling point one day and I HAD to get them out of me. So the computer was booted up and I FINALLY felt it click. Writing is what I needed to do. After that, I had to teach myself how to write. I can't blame my teachers for not teaching me all those years in school. It was my fault. I was one of the students that was wishing I was anywhere but at school! So after that day, it took me lots of work until I was able to put together something that resembled a novel. I'm hoping I got it right since someone must be reading this profile! And I hope you keep enjoying my future stories.

Something in the Way by Jessica Hawkins • RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW

Title: Something in the Way
Author: Jessica Hawkins
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: February 27, 2017

Blurb

It was a hot summer day when I met him on the construction site next to my parents’ house. Under the sweat and dirt, Manning Sutter was as handsome as the sun was bright. He was older, darker, experienced. I wore a smiley-face t-shirt and had never even been kissed. Yet we saw something in each other that would link us in ways that couldn’t be broken...no matter how hard we tried.

I loved Manning before I knew the meaning of the word. I was too young, he said. I would wait. Through all the carefully-chosen words hiding what we knew to be true, through his struggle to keep me innocent, and through infinitely-starry nights—I would wait. But I’d learn that life isn’t always fair. That no matter how much you achieve, none of it matters if you suffer the heartbreak that comes with falling for someone you can never have. Because even though I saw Manning first, that didn’t matter. My older sister saw him next.

Review by: Tatia

There is most definitely Something In the Way, and that is March and April. As usual, I'm completely enthralled and invested in this new series by Jessica Hawkins. She never disappoints when it comes to angst. To me, this story was less hardcore angsty, but yet brought up more questions. Questions that I'm unable to find out the answers to until May, when the next book is set to be released.

Lake is focused. While other kids are out experiencing all that high school offers; parties, drinking, even sex for some, Lake is focused on her studies. She's making her way through the summer reading list. When she finishes with that, her dad has his own list for her to start on. Her older sister on the other hand, is the complete opposite. Tiffany is obsessed with boys, parties, drinking; all things that her dad disapproves of. Lake already knows where she is going to college even though she still has 2 more years of high school. Tiffany hasn't even started college or gotten a job since graduating. As you can see, these two sisters are polar opposites. And yet, the one man that Lake feels an inkling of attraction towards is also the one that Tiffany sets her sights on. Of course he catches Tiffany's attention, he works on the construction site next door. Her father loathes it and the men on it.
Manning keeps to himself. He's there for one purpose and one purpose only. It's not to catcall at the women and girls that walk by but rather to do the job he was hired for and find his next line of work. So when he finds a bracelet on the site, he knows who it belongs to. He saw them yesterday. What he doesn't expect though is to feel drawn towards its owner. He feels an unmistakeable connection towards her. Will he act on those feelings? That's a whole other question.

This is possibly my most anticipated read of the year. Anytime Jessica Hawkins talks of a new book or a new series, I become giddy. I crave the stories that only she is able to write. No one compares to her in my book. She writes angst like she was born to, creating stories that draw you in and hold you captive. She gives no hints as to what the answers are to your questions. She simply leaves you hanging, wondering what could possibly happen next. This story has it all. Now I'm left with my mind going a hundred miles a minute, asking questions that will just have to wait. I've never wanted two months to come and go so quickly.

This book was a bit up and down for me.

Lakeland Tiffany are sisters. Tiffany finished high school and is now just lazing at home shopping and she one job... Picking up Lake everyday from summer school.
Lake is the opposite of Tiffany. Her fathers pride and the one that will be going to college and doing something with her life

One day Tiffany forgot to pick up Lake so she walked home and right next door to their house is a construction site and that's where she meets Manning.

Manning has his own issues but when he's with Lake he feels at peace and like he has meaning to his life, looking out for Lake. And the he meets Tiffany and he likes her because he feels like nobody sees the person she can be.
But then he has this attraction to Lake but that's not possible as she is only 16

This story is about a guy and two sisters and how they grow and get to know each other. It's about Lake who needs to learn to do things for herself and not other people. It's about Tiffany who needs to learn that she can do whatever she wants. And about Manning who has to realize he can't save everyone.

This book like I said was up and down. One minute I enjoyed it and the next minute they all annoyed me. But it's one of those books that annoy you but you want to finish it.

But I need to read the next book as it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger.

Two years with my knight in rusted armor

I, Makenzie Mayfair am leaving my husband.

This is my chance to begin again, to rip out my backbone and yell, “I’ve found it.” It may take time, it may take new friends, a job and even a jerk of a boss who is annoyingly handsome, but I will get there.

I’m determined to be who I want to be, and plan to have a whole heap of fun along the way.

This story was phenomenal. The characters grabbed me instantly. The storyline kept me addicted. Makenzie is incredible. Her journey to becoming herself is outstanding. She goes from being a door mat to having a spine of steel. Grayson is a hard ass with a soft spot for Makenzie. He helps her on her journey, and finds himself along the way. There are a lot of "feels" in this story that will keep your nose stuck in the pages. Absolutely incredible.

Review by: Tatia

You know what this book did? It just made me want more!! This was the perfect tasting to get us ready for the full meal that will come with Dirty Filthy Rich Men! I can't wait! In typical Laurelin Paige style, the writing is impeccable and the sexiness is on another level! I haven't read anything of hers since her Fixed series. I know, I'm pretty ashamed to admit that. This novella just reassured me of why I love her books and writing so much! I'm eagerly and impatiently waiting until we get more of Weston and Donovan and see how their story unfolds with Sabrina.

Review by: Stacey

Dirty  Filthy  Rich Boys was just that....Donovan Kincaid and Weston King are hot, cocky, sexy and smooth! Sabrina dreams about Weston King and gets caught watching him have sex by Donovan...little does she know Donovan is a mystery and she can't shake him and his crazy offer. Sabrina goes through so much in this short story and the unlikely thing happens but after is it what Sabrina wanted....tragedy strikes and time passes!!!

Lauren Paige takes you on a sexy, hot and a bit disturbing journey  but then end comes to soon and leaves you wanting more....literally a cliffhanger and all I want is to know what happens next!!!

Loved this story and read it in a day! I highly recommend it and am a new fan of Lauren Paige.

Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead, or dreaming of Michael Fassbender. Review by: Kim

Having a huge soft spot for 'made-over' fairy tales, Don't Speak is a modern re-telling in spectacular fashion. Katy Regnery is a master.
This amazing book is a tale woven with pages full of angst and old traditions.
Don't Speak tells a story about a boy living in the modern world and a young innocent girl who lives in a world that has been forgotten by time.
Apart and together Laire and Erik must find the strength to fight against generations long way of living and parental expectations.
I loved the way this story unfolds. The way the author builds the relationship between these two. Watching them find strength and hope in each other was very touching.
This book also has a bit of the forbidden, 'wrong side of the tracks', angst too.
Don't Speak has it all. It's intense, gripping and steamy.

Twenty-five books later, Katy claims authorship of the multi-titled, New York Times and USA Today Blueberry Lane Series, which follows the English, Winslow, Rousseau, Story, and Ambler families of Philadelphia; the six-book, bestselling ~a modern fairytale~ series; and several other standalone novels and novellas.

Katy’s first modern fairytale romance, The Vixen and the Vet, was nominated for a RITA® in 2015 and won the 2015 Kindle Book Award for romance.
