I have enjoyed this series so far but this is the book I've been waiting for! The heat between Rylan, Reese, and Sloan has been building since the beginning and its exploded beautifully in the pages of this book.

Raw, rough, passionate, and sexy as hell.  Reese is all these things as she runs a huge compound and when she's dealing with the men in her life.  Her strength is both a blessing and a curse.  Watching her begin to trust and lean on others made her so much more relatable.

I really, really liked how the storyline continued and played out in this book and am looking forward to the next book and the end of Ferris!

EXCERPT:

Rylan didn’t waste time. He strode to the two-story brownstone on Main Street and entered behind her. He didn’t bother to knock. Better to ask for forgiveness than permission and all that.
He found her upstairs in her small kitchen, arms braced against the counter as she stared out the window at the unkempt yard behind the building. It was empty, save for a decrepit playset in the back corner. The slide was long gone, but a single swing hung from a rusted bar.
“When you die,” she said without turning around, “I’m going to dub you Saint Rylan, patron of lost causes.”
Rylan stepped close enough that he could feel the heat from her body, but far enough away that there was room for her to escape. “How’d you know it was me instead of Sloan?”
            “Your footsteps are different.”
“Huh.” He chewed on that piece of information a bit. He was probably reading too much into it, but the fact that she could distinguish his footsteps from someone else’s? That was all the encouragement he needed to stay. “You’re a damn impressive woman, Reese.”
“Is that right? Because I can tell you and Sloan apart?” She sounded tired, almost resigned. Rylan experienced a pang of concern. Connor had never sounded like this before, but then again, Rylan’s leader had never been in charge of eighty-plus people before either. Con kept his camp small. Even Hudson, his woman, had been an interloper he hadn’t wanted to take in.
Reese, on the other hand, threw her doors open to any misfits, wanderers, and beggars that rattled on her gates.
Rylan briefly pondered what it would’ve been like growing up if there’d been a Reese around when he was young. Maybe then every night wouldn’t have been filled with his mother’s tears and his father’s angry shouts, followed by mournful pleas for forgiveness and hollow exchanges of I love you.
“That, and because you’ve got a vision for the future that few people would ever try to make a reality,” he said frankly.
“You and Connor think I’m nuts, don’t you?”
            “Nah, brave.”
And maybe a little foolish, but hell, if it wasn’t for Reese’s foot in their asses, they’d still be holed up in their isolated camp, avoiding Enforcers and scavenging for supplies. Reese’s plan was big and bold and possibly suicidal, but the alternative was to cower, and Rylan had had enough of that.
She sighed and finally turned to look at him. “Did Sloan send you in here to cheer me up?”
Was that a dig? It kinda felt like one. But it was also true—Sloan had sent him. Or at least given him the signal that he wasn’t totally barking up the wrong tree by running after Reese.
He searched her eyes for traces of derision, but he only saw fatigue with a side of melancholy. He wanted to scoop this tough woman into his arms and pleasure her until she was too satisfied to frown.
“I’m here because last night was the best sex I’ve ever had. Because walking away from you isn’t an option for me.”
She made a strangled sound—half laugh, half groan—and rubbed the back of her hand across her forehead.  Is that all you can think about?”
“Around you? Yup. I fuck and I fight. Don’t scratch too deep because there’s nothing there.”
She snorted in disbelief. “Tell that to someone who’ll believe you.”
Rylan’s brow furrowed. He’d always skated on the surface of intimacy, enjoying the physical nature of sex—the hot embrace, the rough friction, the sharp desire. What he’d just told Reese was absolutely true. He didn’t feel deeply. He could appreciate it in others, but he’d witnessed firsthand the emptiness of love. What he wanted, and what he could give, was pleasure and nothing more.
“What’re you talking about?” he finally asked, feeling slightly off-center that Reese saw something in him that didn’t exist.
She studied him for a moment before waving her hand carelessly. “It’s nothing. Look, last night was hot, but there’s nothing left here for you.” She presented her back to him and stared out the window again.
Was that a challenge? Sure sounded like one.

  About Fling:

I have a crush on my boss’ best friend. At least it’s not my brother’s best friend. Or my best friend’s brother. Or… never mind. It’s all pretty cliche.   And worse? My boss’ best friend is his business partner. Which sort of makes him my boss too. Okay - it’s not sort of. It’s definite. Gabe Laurent is off limits. Totally off limits.   Which is fine. I make do with my imagination. He’ll never know. Ever. Unless my work bestie passes me an eighties-style teen movie sex quiz during a meeting and I fill it out.   And it ends up in Gabe’s hands…

Fling by Jana Aston was such an awesome Novella! This is my 1st book by her and I have to say it will not be the last! I actually want to start with Wrong & Right cuz if it's anything like Fling I'm all in.

This book is about Gabe! Hot, sexy, confident and a millionaire too! He is def out of league for Sandra the assistant to Gabe's best friend and CEO of Clemens Corporation. But their chemistry is undeniable and they both fantasize about eachother and thanks to a joke aka quiz by Sandra's work BFF Gabe finds out Sandra has a crush on him and that gives him the boost he needs to woo her!!!!

This book was really short and I wish it was longer so we could get more of Sandra and Fabe but it was soooo good!!! I <3 Jana Aaron!!! She's amazing!!!

Fling was just what I needed. It was short, quick, and to the point. Sandra has a crush. Thankfully it's not on her boss. Nope, just his best friend and business partner. She just enjoys the view from afar. So when her best friend, who also happens to work for the company as well, slides a little sex quiz her way, she's hesitant to answer it. She does, with a little push. No one will know it's her answers. She gets up to do one thing for her boss only to come back and find it missing. Oh crap!

This was my first book by Jana Aston. I didn't think of it being part of the series until after I signed up to read it. Thankfully, it can most definitely be read by itself. I didn't feel lost or like I was missing information in any way. I do now have the urge to read the rest of this series though. I really enjoyed this book. Nothing felt rushed or forced. It flowed very well. I was even happy with the epilogue. I feel like we get just enough of what happens in the future to make us satisfied and content with everything. A very successful first read for me that has me craving more of Jana Aston's work.

"Like I really like him. I know it's stupid and seems like a silly crush, but I like him. I've liked him for a long time, and I don't want to get hurt if he's just having fun without me." Sandra is so cute it hurts! She's in love with Gabe, he's not sure if he likes her. There's all the witting banter that goes on between these two fumbling around to figure it all out. Add in a fabulous work BFF,and Sandra has her hands full.

She's driven and very goal oriented and allows her work crush to possibly get out of hands. Or perhaps they get into the right set of hands and all kinds of possibilities open up. This book was short and sweet. It had just the right about of humor and easy story line to have me hooked good. I recommend it for great easy read.

Exclusive Excerpt:

"What do you think of Sandra?" I ask Sawyer as I snag a signed baseball from a display case along the far wall of his office. I settle into one of the guest chairs across his desk and toss the ball over my head before catching it again. He's reviewing something on his monitor and he pauses at my question and turns his attention to me. "You know she's the best executive assistant I've ever had. Do you need her help with something? I thought you were happy with Preston?" Somehow human resources only assigns me gay men or women old enough to have birthed me. I suspect that's on direct orders from Sawyer. Dick. I give the ball another toss and catch. "No, I meant, what do you think of Sandra as a woman?" "I don't," Sawyer says, narrowing his eyes at me. "She's got a thing for me," I say. "She doesn't," Sawyer says dismissively and taps the mouse on his desk, intent on ignoring me. "She does," I insist. "She's always looking at me." "Maybe she thinks you're an idiot." That's a distinct possibility. I've never been quite sure. Most of the time she ducks her head and calls me Mr. Laurent as she scurries past. It fucking turns me on, but I'm not sure if it turns her on or if she honestly just thinks I'm an asshole. "I think she's dating someone in marketing," Sawyer adds while tapping on his keyboard, engrossed with whatever's on the screen in front of him. "They broke up over the summer," I say confidently, leaning back in the chair and tossing the ball a little further in the air. "How do you know that?" Sawyer stops typing and crosses his arms across his chest. He doesn't look pleased with my knowledge of Sandra's dating life; I think he views her like the little sister he never had. "What could you possibly want to do with Sandra anyway?" I catch the ball as my brows raise in disbelief. "You need me to spell it out for you, buddy?" I lean forward in the chair and adopt a serious tone. "Sometimes, when two people are attracted to each other, they enjoy taking their clothing off together so they can—" "Shut up," Sawyer interrupts. "She's not really your type." "Beautiful?" I question. "Sweet," he replies. She is sweet, he's right about that. I think about the paper burning a hole in my pocket and wonder again if it was hers. I'd like it to be hers. I think sweet Sandra has a hidden dirty side, and I'd really like to uncover it.

Synopsis

The happiest day of Payton Lambert's life was the day she graduated high school and watched Bald Knob, Kentucky get smaller and smaller in her rearview mirror. She wanted more for her life than a tiny town where everyone knows your business and you can’t find a decent cup of coffee for at least forty miles. Twelve years later, an unexpected phone call in the middle of the night has her packing up her life in Chicago and racing back home to the one person she ever regretted leaving behind.

Upon her return, she sees that Leo Hudson, the scrawny boy who followed Payton around like a puppy and could recite cow insemination facts in his sleep, is long gone. Leo is still hot on her heels, but now he's wearing a sheriff badge and dead set on solving a murder that may or may not involve Payton...along with half the town. In a place where the biggest crime happened the day someone kicked a few of his cows, people are pointing fingers, rumors are spreading like wildfire, and Payton swears she's only making out with the sweet-talking, studly sheriff to distract him from the secrets she's keeping.

When you've been tased, peed on by a yippy dog named Bo Jangles, and can't stop picturing what Sheriff Hudson looks like naked, it will be a tough job making everyone agree that...Jed had to die.

Review by: Gina

I am officially giving Tara Sivec the title, Queen of RomCom! If I ever need a good that will have me laughing out loud, I will turn to one of her books. I was laughing so hard through out Jed Had To Die.

I thought the storyline was really fun! It was funny but then had a little bit of mystery thrown in there! While I was reading, I kept trying to guess who killed Jed and why. The characters MADE this book! I love banter and the author did an amazing job with the banter in this book! And it just wasn't one or two characters, it was all of them! They were all amazing!

My favorite part is how the story was written. Each chapter had a coffee quote from Coffee Mug and those where HILARIOUS! Being an avid coffee drinker, I can totally relate! Payton owns a coffee shop, Liquid Crack and loves her coffee so those quotes fit perfectly! I also enjoyed the Police Reports between chapters. It helped us get an insight into some of the people who live in Bald Knob and they all had me laughing out loud.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book! It kept me entertained from page one! The story was well written and with a bunch of fun characters. Even though Tara Sivec has ruined blueberry pie for me, I am looking forward to whatever else she may write!
