Experienced (A Real Man, 4) by Jenika Snow • BLOG TOUR & REVEIW

He’ll show her how a real man treats a woman…

SABINE

I've never known how good it could feel to be taken care of by a man who knew what he was doing.

Until I was with Hugo...

HUGO

I was older than her.

She was innocent, hadn't experienced all that life had to offer.

I could give her that experience.

Sabine consumed my thoughts, made me desire nothing else but her. No other woman compared to her, and because of that, I haven’t been with a woman for four years, which was also the last time I saw Sabine.

But I was done feeling guilty for what I desired. I wanted Sabine in my life, by my side, and I was about to make that a reality.

I didn’t know if she’d ever been treated the way a female should … but I was going to show her how a real man takes care of a woman.

Warning: If you’re into super short, hot, dirty reads containing a much older hero and younger heroine … keep on reading. This story is guaranteed to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, give you that sweet HEA we all deserve, and make you want to search out an experienced older man for yourself.

Review by: Erin

I love insta-love novellas. They are the perfect pick-me-up on any day. I really like this author’s work and this novella was right up there. I loved the storyline with the older man / younger woman. There was a little drama thrown in there, providing a little twist to the story. Overall a great, quick read that I will probably turn to time and again.

Hugo

She’s all I thought about for the last four years.
Since I left after her high school, and eighteenth birthday, celebration, Sabine had been on my mind  .
  Four. Fucking. Years.
I closed my eyes and pictured her.
  I always thought about Sabine.
I could picture her long black hair ... strands I wanted to wrap around my hand as I made love to her.
I imagined her blue eyes staring up at me, wide, pleasure-filled, as I thrust into her body.
I could picture my hands, mouth, and tongue moving along her womanly curves.
Four years of me wanting a woman I knew I shouldn’t desire, but whom I couldn’t get out of my head.
She was so much younger than I was, but that wasn’t an issue. The age difference didn’t bother me in the slightest. She was a woman, twenty-one years old, and she was smart, perfect for me. Sabine had always known what she wanted out of life, and she’d excelled at what she put her mind to. I might not have seen her in years, but I knew she had only gotten more determined in that regard. That wasn’t a trait someone just let go of.
I also didn’t care that she was Leo’s—a family friend’s—daughter. Maybe I should have, but I didn’t let a complication like that stop me from aching for her in a way that made it hard to think of much else.
It had been four long years since I’d even been intimate with a woman. I just couldn’t bring myself to go there with them, not when the only one I wanted was Sabine.
After all this time, I knew she was the only one I’d ever want, and as experienced in life as I was, I knew this wasn’t a passing desire.
I ran a hand over my face, breathing out wearily.
“Would you like something else to drink, Mr. Romanov?”
I looked up at the flight attendant and shook my head. “No, thank you, Marcella.” I had three more hours to go before I landed in New York, and another hour drive to get to Leo and his wife Annabelle’s house. And by the time I got to their home, it would be too late to see anyone really.
Getting a hotel would have been a simpler option, but it was out of the question, not when Leo and Annabelle insisted I stay in their guesthouse. I knew better than to argue with either of them.
I should have been here earlier.
I’d missed Sabine’s graduation, and even though I’d known about this event for some time, switching my business obligations around hadn’t been possible. That didn’t stop me from feeling this immense guilt.
I reached into my pocket and pulled out the white leather box. Opening it, I stared down at the diamond tennis bracelet I’d bought for her.
Sabine was the only woman I’d ever given jewelry to, and although it might seem like an innocent gesture, a congratulatory gift for her accomplishments, the necklace, and now this bracelet, meant more to me than she’d ever know.
She meant more to me than she’d ever know.

* * * Sabine * * *

It had been four years since I’d seen him.
Four years of me wanting a man I knew I could never have.
Four years of me comparing every guy I tried to have a relationship with to him ... Hugo.
I’d told myself I needed to wake up and realize I could never have a man more than twice my age who was my father’s lifelong friend.
But telling myself what I should and shouldn’t want was a lot harder to accomplish when what I wanted was unattainable, yet still within my reach.
I stared across the table at my parents. We’d finished throwing a small dinner party in celebration of me graduating college with my bachelor's degree, and now it was just the three of us. I should be focusing on graduate school, getting my master's in education, but knowing Hugo was coming in tonight was all I could think of.
  Hugo Romanov.
Just thinking his name had my skin prickling with awareness, had every part of me speeding up.
Adrenaline rushing through my body caused this reaction.
“He’ll be here sometime tonight, although I’m not sure what time.”
I looked at my father. He leaned back in the dining room chair and lifted his wine glass to his lips. He looked over at my mother, who also had a wine glass in front of her.
“It’s been what, four years since he was last in the States?” my mother asked.
My father nodded. “Yes, for Sabine’s high school graduation. Although he came back about a year ago on business, he couldn’t take the extra time to fly out to see us.”
My heart sped up knowing he’d been here, probably states away, yet still closer than when he was in Europe.
“I bet you’re excited to see Hugo again,” my mother said and took a sip of her wine, looking over the rim at me.
I shrugged, not about to show how nervous I was, or how much anticipation thrummed through me.
We’d finished off a bottle of wine between the three of us, and the second bottle was already half empty. I reached out and ran my finger along the base of my glass. “It’s been a long time,” I replied softly, thinking about the last time I’d seen him. I remembered vividly the way he smelled of dark and delicious cologne. But he’d also smelled of aged books and experience, and it was such a heady, intoxicating aroma. On instinct, I lifted my hand and touched the rose gold feather necklace he’d given me. It had been a present from Hugo not just for graduating high school, but also making valedictorian.
I’d worn it every day since receiving it.
“You two always had this special bond.”
I looked up at my father after he spoke. “Not really.” He might have been more of a presence in my life when I was younger, and he lived in the States, but I’d never say we’d been close.
“Of course you did. Hugo would spend hours with you at the kitchen table teaching you Russian.
Remember?” I did, vividly. Our last lesson had been when I was seventeen years old, and he’d come to visit after being away on business in Russia.
“That’s because Dad wanted him to make me more ‘rounded’.” I smiled at my dad. He’d been teasing when he’d made the suggestion I start learning a language, but Hugo had taken it seriously. For the next two years, from the age of fifteen to seventeen, whenever Hugo was in town, he’d spend hours with me, teaching me his native language—one of the four he spoke fluently.
The truth was I could only speak a handful of Russian phrases, mainly because I wasn’t able to concentrate when he was near.
But I’d tried to come to the realization that my personal reality did not include Hugo.
And even after all these years, it was still hard to make that sink in.

BLURB

Brody Bond. The youngest homicide detective in Holly Woods. My best friend’s younger brother. Off. Freaking. Limits. I’ve told myself that for the past five years, and I’m going to keep telling myself that. Besides—I’m kind-of dating Jason. I don’t need Brody. I shouldn’t even want him, but want him, I do. Not that I have time to think about it. With Noelle and Drake in Mexico for two weeks, I’m holding down the fort at Bond P.I. Or I was… until I stumbled upon a young woman who’d been attacked while walking my dog. Jason thinks it’s the latest in a long line of gang-rapes happening across three states. Brody thinks I’ve added a target to my back. Getting to the bottom of it is at the top of my to-do list. Two men, both determined to protect me. I think I could love one. I’m almost certain I’m in love with the other. Ride or die just got a whole lot realer.

Why did it have to end??!! I loved everything about this book! I loved getting to really know Bek better. We've always just known her has Noelle's best friend, but now she gets her chance to tell her story, and boy is it a good one!

Whose team am I on?
Team Jason?
Team Brody?
Team Bek? Which would be telling her to forget them both and go her own way. (Insert Music) "You can go your own waay! GO YOUR OWN WAAAAAY!" (Cut the music). I'm sorry, but Fleetwood Mac cannot be contained!
Anyway, where was I? Right! Bek forgetting both of their asses, which at times she'd be better off doing...like during their pissing contests. Damn dogs have to mark everything.
Bek had a lot on her hands. With Noelle out of town, she was in charge of running Bond P.I. And it wouldn't be a true Holly Woods Files story without some mystery and drama. I think Bek has had enough to last her a lifetime now. Being thrust in the middle of it all on top of having to deal with Brody and Jason would be enough for anyone.

The back and forth, the does he want me, am I good enough, who do I choose, it all made for a story that I could not put down. In typical Emma Hart fashion, she'll have you laughing one minute and on the edge of your seat, on the verge of tears the next. I was listening to music while reading and the perfect song happen to come on at a pretty intense moment, and I couldn't stop the waterworks. Bek's story is one that, before I had even finished, I wanted to start over again. That's what I did after reading the last page. I knew there was no way that I was ready to let her go, so I immediately turned back to the beginning and started over. It's that amazing!

Book 6, yes 6, of the Hollywood's files. This one could technically be read as a standalone alone, you should read from the beginning so these characters have a great build up in your mind. Trust me, you want to read these laugh out loud books in the series.
Seeing as how I absolutely adore Noelle in the other books in there series, I knew I was going to like Bek just as much. We really only knew Bek as Noelle's BFF. This time Bek gets her one story. And boy does she! Having to not only deal with the the trouble that is lurking with Noelle away, but being confused on which man she actually really truly loves.
I can honestly say only one bad thing and that's the love triangle. And that's not because the author didn't do a hell of a job giving the reader the romance, comedy and angst that would come with a triangle. But because they just aren't my cup of tea, I always pick the one they never end up with, then I get angry with the character.

“Danger! Danger! Danger!” Gio screams. “Danger! Neenaw neenaw neenaw!”
“Jesus Christ, Nonna!” Brody yells, rubbing his ear. “What the hell is that?”
Nonna stops. “He-a likes CSI.”
I blink. Gio watches CSI?
“You let your parrot watch murder TV shows?” I ask.
“Si. He-a likes it.”
“Neenaw neenaw neenaw!” Gio flaps his wings.
“What is the neenaw about?” I say quickly when he stops.
“He-a is-a a police-a car,” Nonna says in the kind of dry tone that says I should know that.
Like it's totally fucking normal for a parrot to pretend to be a police car.
“Nonna, you need a quieter pet,” Brody tells her. “That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.”
She snorts. “He will-a learn-a a fire engine next!”
“I'm leaving.” I grab my purse and stand up.
Nonna grabs my arm, stands me up, and spins me toward the dining room—and away from the wannabe siren with a heartbeat. “No. You-a must-a help me.”
“Nonna,” I say gently, hoping to placate her and trying not to think about the fact that I dropped my purse on the floor. “They haven't set a wedding date. This can wait until they're home.”
She shakes her head. “No. She-a does-a not-a care about-a napkins!”
I don't blame her. I'm not gonna lie. I don't care about napkins, either. At least, not right now. There are far bigger things to worry about.
“Neenaw!” Gio cries through the house.
Brody slams the dining room door, cutting him off. “That goddamn bird, Nonna.”
Nonna clasps her hand to her chest. “Take-a it-a back!”
“I'm going to damn you if you don't get on with this. I'm supposed to be on a lunch break, not a torture break,” he grinds out. He grabs the samples and, flicking through them halfheartedly, selects the most god-awful pattern I've ever seen. “Here. This is nice.”
“If you're blind,” I say sarcastically, reaching across and taking them from him.
It's even uglier at closer look. I don't know what Nonna was drinking when she picked these, but it must have been Moonshine or something. I can't even describe the vile mixing of lace and satin on that swatch.
“One of these three.” I pull them from the clip and put them on the table. “Trust me. I'm not being responsible for Noelle having to wipe her mouth with a napkin that looks like it lost a fight with a paper shredder and a glue stick.”
“What's wrong with the one I picked?” Brody asks me indignantly.
I cast my gaze upward. “It looks like it lost a fight with a paper shredder and a glue stick,” I say slowly so he gets every word. “No. I'll be held responsible, and it's not happening.”
Nonna wrinkles her nose as she puts her glasses on and examines the swatches I've handed her. Honestly, if she brings them any closer to her face, she'll be able to feel them. Then she selects a fourth.
“I like-a this one.”
“No,” I say firmly. “One of these.” I hand her the best three.
Brody groans. “Why can't she just use paper napkins?”

“You don’t know anything about me.” My voice is slight but strong, my need to assert myself front and center despite his calling me on the carpet.
“That’s where you’re wrong, Socks. I might not know where you’re from or why I ruffled your feathers today, but I know you’re stronger than you give yourself credit for. Whatever it is that you ran from back home, you did it. You got out and are making it on your own. That takes guts and you deserve mad props for that. I know you like things messy and are goddamn cute when you’re tipsy. I know you’re stubborn as hell and gorgeous as fuck. And that your kiss tastes like an aged whiskey: something I want to sip slowly, feel on my lips, savor on my tongue, and take my time with before I get drunk on it.” With a lift of his eyebrows and a nod of his head, he walks past me, leaving me with my mouth agape and eyes wide.
I can’t move. Just stand staring at the door in front of me as I try to process what he just said, what he meant by it, and yet there’s no use because we just had a whole one-sided conversation and that need to banter with him is gone. Lost to the tingling in my lower belly and the wild spinning of my thoughts.
“Oh, and, Getty?” Zander calls out to me from the kitchen, refusing to continue until I turn to face him, standing there unabashedly shirtless. “If you ever call me pretty again, we’re gonna have a real problem. I guarantee you there is nothing pretty about me.”
I almost smile at the fact that out of all of the crappy things I said to him, that is the one that bugged him the most.
“You are kind of pretty, though,” I murmur, unable to resist goading him further, needing to try to get us back on an even playing field. Because hell if right now I don’t feel like I’m on the low end of the teeter-totter.
His immediate response? A snort to signify that his chiseled abs and the tall, dark, and handsome thing he’s got going on are nothing more than average.
“Last warning, Socks.” His eyes flash with mirth. And what looks like desire.
An unexpected part of me—the one who usually hides and doesn’t ever take a chance—wants to say it again. Just to see what he’d do if I did.
“So damn pretty.” I don’t know who’s more shocked at my comment, him or me, but we stand there for a moment, gazes locked, unspoken words warring across the distance between us.
He walks toward me with a predatory gleam in his eyes and a salacious smirk on his lips that catches me off guard. “I know I said you were brave, Getty, but now you’re just playing with matches.”
I draw in a long inhale as he steps right in front of me. I can’t look at him. My nerve is suddenly gone. Outside, rain pelts the roof. The constant drip into the bucket in the hallway serves as a metronome to this anticipatory silence we are dancing in. The goose bumps on his chest are the only thing I can focus on.
When his thumb and forefinger direct my chin up so I’m forced to meet his eyes, every part of me hums from his touch. From the want of something I don’t quite understand myself and couldn’t ever put into words. Our eyes meet—his intense, mine searching for answers that aren’t his to give—before his gaze flicks down to my mouth and then back up again.
“Not yet, Getty.” He closes his eyes for a beat, and I see what I think is restraint reflected in his grimace, before a ghost of a smile spreads on his lips. “I don’t think you’re ready to light this fire just yet.”

Review by: Gina

If you are looking for a book with the most unique storyline, read LH Cosway! I don't know where she comes up with this stuff, but it's brilliant. It not like anything, I've read before. I was captivated with the story from the beginning and it only got better as the story progressed.

I loved that characters! I thought they were all interesting and held their own through out the story. They grew and developed as the story went on. Stu and Alfie had their secrets so it was fun to see those unravel through out the story.

I really loved this story! It was fun, interesting, hot, and had some mystery/suspense to it. I just really enjoyed the story with the hint of forbidden romance and also the suspense of an art heist. I thought the author did an awesome job tying a little bit of really history into the story. Overall, this is a must read! I've read a couple of books by this author and I have loved all of them! Time to binge read everything else she has written.
