“Love is like a butterfly, it settles upon you when you least expect it.”  Author Unknown

Sawyer Bennett is a charming lady’s man, has watched several of his friends fall victim to the love bug within the past year.  He gives these friends grief for becoming whipped but secretly yearns to find the same love they have found.

Sawyer doesn’t really believe in love at first sight, lust maybe, but not love.  The fateful night of a friend’s bachelor party, karma decides to throw him a curve ball in the form of his favorite song and the stripper that dances to it.  Only she’s not really a stripper – it’s her first night, it’s clear she doesn’t know what she is doing and clearly she is afraid to be up on stage.  Sawyer is mesmerized not by her performance, but by everything about her.

Sawyer is haunted by the memory of the nameless stripper that wasn’t a stripper.  For weeks, he and a friend scour every strip joint within a 50 mile radius looking for her, but she seems to have disappeared into thin air.  He knows he can’t go on like this and tries to take his mind off of her by losing himself in other women and the occasional BMX race.  He is at a race and in the midst of losing himself when karma steps in again and boy is it funny.

Sawyer is reeling from the race incident and dealing with a hangover when the manager of the bar he works for asks him to interview a waitress applicant.  You guessed it, it’s her – her name is Emmett Young.  So they start working together at the bar and start getting to know each other.  They have a great chemistry going on but nothing is really happening physically between them.

Sawyer is really trying to be a gentleman and not pressure Emmett for a physical relationship.  Emmett considers Sawyer to be a friend and is hesitant to enter into a romantic relationship with Sawyer.  She drops little hints here and there about a secret that she has that would change Sawyer’s interest in her.  Karma is not giving Sawyer a break.

Emmett does trust Sawyer with her secret.  Can Sawyer overlook Emmett’s secret?  Will Emmett’s secret get in the way of their future together?

One of the things that I liked most about the book was the author’s sense of humor – there are certain moments in the book that just can’t help but laugh at.  The characters are very human and loveable; the dialogue between characters is very good.  The chemistry between Sawyer and Emmett was sizzling hot.  It was a very enjoyable story, but lacked the final "wow" factor to make it 5 stars.

Entice Teaser Not Her Daddy
Excerpt

Sighing, I wrap a towel around my waist and open the door, ready to try and be at least a level of cordial I know is only right. “Listen, can I-“ “She’s gone.” I look up, startled by Laney’s voice and shocked to see her sitting on my bed. Thank God I put on a towel. “Where’d she go?” “Home I guess,” she shrugs, “I didn’t ask. I heard the front door slam and got up to see what the hell. Since you’re here and she’s not, I’m assuming it was her.” How did I not hear the door slam? Not that I would have chased her. “Alright, she left. But what’re you doing in here?” She stands, grabbing some shorts off my floor and throwing them at me. “Go put those on and we’ll talk. Since I’m up,” she shoots me an evil glare. I head back in the bathroom to change, and stay in there, locking the door. I am over six feet tall and lift almost every day, and yes, I’m scared to face Laney. Not only is she a hellcat when she wants to be, but I don’t want to see the disgust or disappointment in her eyes. She’s one of my best friends, even more so after becoming roommates, and her opinion means a lot to me. “Get out here,” she yells when she finally realizes I must be stalling. “Take it like a man.” Well, I might as well go out or she’ll undoubtedly come in here, kicking in the door or taking if off the hinges in what I have no doubt would take her less than five minutes. I open it and she pats the bed beside her. “Come sit down. We’re doing this now.” I hesitantly take a seat beside her, my knee bouncing as I wait for her to speak. “First, and of the upmost importance, you know I call my father ‘daddy.’ So hearing your visitors scream it repeatedly in the middle of the night freaks me out. I wake up thinking I’m in some bad Lifetime movie.” Fighting my smirk I agree. "Okay, got it." "Second," she stands and tucks a pillow between my headboard and the wall, "leave that there." She once again sits down beside me. "School and game nights, booty call curfew is eleven. That work for you?" "Yeah," I sigh and run my hands along my head, wishing I had some hair to pull. "It won't happen again Gidge, I'm sorry." She places a hand on my shoulder with a small smile. "Don't be sorry, this is your house too and we hadn't talked about it. Now we have, so we're all good. Any rules you want to put in place?" "Nah, I'm easy." "Made crystal clear by the parade of women coming in and out of here." She laughs and scoots away quickly, ducking the pillow I grab and swing at her head. “Speaking of which, been busier than usual lately. You trying for Guiness or Gonorrhea?" Here we go - what she really wants to talk about.

BLOG TOUR, REVIEW, & GIVEAWAY ~ In the Lyrics by Nacole Stayton

18110409

Book title: In the Lyrics by Nacole Stayton
Genre: NA Contemporary Romance
Release date: February 7, 2014

Hensley Bradley is the definition of the girl-next-door. She’s kindhearted, beautiful, and talented. Bored with her mundane life, thoughts of fleeing her small town begin to consume her. With aspiring dreams to use her voice as a one-way ticket, she suddenly discovers that music might not be her only passion.

After a fallout back home, Colby Grant decides to leave his family’s farm, determined to show his father he’s more than just a wanna-be country singer. With his All-American good looks, it doesn’t take long for girls in his new town to focus their eyes on him. But things aren’t what they appear from the outside, and it isn’t long until Colby feels he doesn't fit into the perfect world that so quickly embraced him.

A chance encounter places Hensley in Colby’s path, but it isn’t her natural beauty that first captures his attention – it’s her voice.

When love and music mix, will the combination blossom into a beautiful melody or wither into a heart-wrenching tune?

“Do you know the first thing that I noticed about you?”
She shakes her head no.
“It was your confidence. I had just gotten to town and was going to grab a bite to eat and then call Dusty, but I saw this girl sitting on the street corner.”
“I felt like you were staring holes in my head,” she says softly.
“Truthfully, I was. Anyway, once you started to sing…it was like…ya know when your favorite song comes on the radio and you’re jammin’, listening to every word, your heads bobbin’, and you’re just feeling the music, but then your phone rings and you know it’s a call you can’t miss? There’s a split second where you debate on pressing forward to voicemail so you can finish the song, but you’ve been waiting for this call, so you turn down the radio knowing you’ll miss your favorite part just to answer it. It was like you were my favorite song, and I was forwarding my calls to voicemail. In that moment, I didn’t care who was standing around me. All I was worried about was tuning in to you, listening to your voice.”
“I love you.” Those three simple words are spoken, and much to my amazement it’s Hensley that says them first.
Clutching her face hard in my hands, I kiss her. I kiss her for being so darn dumb and insecure, for acting like a jealous girl, and more importantly, for loving me through it all.

Ever since the accident in Colby's family he hasn't been the same. His father belittles him for having dreams and has become an abusive drunk .
"What, you think you call the shots around here? You think you're famous, boy? You're not shit, and you ain't ever gonna be shit..."
It's time for Colby to leave the failing farm behind him and reach  for his dreams. Colby is such a babe and a true friend to everyone.

Hensley can't allow herself to lose focus...
"Love is for losers."
But the moment she sees Colby you know she can't keep away. She tries to keep him at a distance but it really doesn't last long at all. I mean who could resist Colby? Not me!!
"It is the sexiest voice I've ever heard in my entire life. Oh, no. I'm in trouble. Deep, deep, trouble."
The first 70 percent of the book I loved, then Hensley shocked me and broke some hearts and I must say I don't know that I really could forgive her for the pain she caused those who stood by her. This book will make you laugh cry and scream WTF at times, and there are a few minor characters that are just plain mean.

I have to say that this book is somewhere between a 3.5 - 4 star read.

Raised within a rival crime network, Hope Delacroix wanted nothing to do with The Estate. A fierce warrior, Hope is given no choice but to kill Aaron Carmichael. Caught in her attempt, Hope is captured by Aaron’s top guard in an effort to discover who sent her.

Ever loyal and protective, Xander Black’s sole objective is to defend Aaron and Maddy. Willing to do whatever is necessary, Xander gives in to darkness in order to force information out of Hope.

“I find it ironic that your name is Hope…especially considering that you have none.” ~ Xander Black

3.5 stars!

Let’s face the facts people.

With Joseph gone, there goes our badass villain *poopyface*

Xander was pretty kickbutt in Madeleine, Abducted so I was ecstatic to hear he’d be getting his own book!

After reading

description

Well I mean it was good and I did like it wait there were some problems I had and I wonder if it’s ok to say them I really wanted to 5 star the book because it’s the ESTATE for goodness sake

OKAY.

First, I have to say that M.S. Willis has a unique talent that 90% of other authors don’t have, and that’s her writing. Not the writing style, mind you, but the actual words. Her prose is almost lyrical, and scenes are so provocative and evocative I could pretty much envision the entire book as a movie. My standards of good writing is when an author is so exceptionally skilled that they are able to transport readers to whatever time period/scene/setting their books are set in and to make us forget our surroundings. M.S. Willis has consistently delivered that again and again with each book in the Estate series, and Hope Restrained is no exception.

So what did I not like?

1. Xander and Hope’s connection. Or the lack of. From the way they “meet” to Xander’s interrogation of her to his blossoming affection for her seemed stilted and forced. I really didn’t think there was enough character development on this part to warrant Xander’s insta-love for Hope.

2. Xander: Badass turned Pussy Later in the book (around 85%) I realized that just like Aaron needs Maddy to keep him grounded, Hope needs Xander, but I didn’t expect that so I was genuinely surprised at how...soft Xander got. He was like play dough in Hope’s hands. Besides, for a top notch assassin, he certainly got slapped around by Hope a lot.

3. Aaron: Executioner turned Shrew. Now don’t get me wrong, for the most part, Aaron was his usual dark self but after a few scenes that originally convinced me he had more common sense than Xander, he then turned into a frillish housewife.

4. I felt disconnected with the Estate. The past two books in the series had something in common (besides being freaking AMAZING): the plot, the characters, and basically everything always revolved around the Estate, meaning no matter what part I was reading, I would always be aware of the threat and danger the Estate posed. This added to the thrill, the dark, the mindfuck that these books posed. In Hope Restrained, I felt isolated from the workings of the Estate. If I hadn’t read the first two books, I’d tell you that the Estate is composed of Aaron, Maddy, Xander, Hope, Jason, Patrick, and the housemaid. That’s it. It isn’t until 70% where I could really grasp how the Estate played a role in this second book of the Estate series.

But despite what I didn’t like, this book still made for a great dark read! There were times I was like:

And when the characters were like:

.............

Definitely looking forward to book 3, Honor Bound! She’s got an interesting story...
