Rachel Clark’s perfect life changed one night when she woke up surprised to be in a hospital and where she also found out that she had lost her boyfriend, Cory Conner. Each day was tough but as times goes by she is gradually able to move on with the help of an old friend, Sam Shea.

From the start of the page I have been trying to piece together the events of the night and just when I though I had a idea what had happened I would come across something that leads me to something else. This story was one that kept my mind reeling about life and losing someone you hold dear to your heart. This 4 stars read was sweetly written to overcome "living with regret" and being able to live once again.

Review By Fidah

Living with Regret is the third book in a companion series by Lisa De Jong. It follows Rachel who has to deal with the loss and consequences after getting into an accident which took her boyfriend’s life. This book deals with her guilt and regret, and trying to cope with the situation.

First and foremost, I thought the storyline was pretty predictable. I anticipated some of the scenes before they happened. Furthermore, I was able to figure out the mystery in the plot before the main character was able to.

Other than that, I was a little frustrated by Rachel. I felt for her loss. I understood that she needed time to go through such a painful process. However, she got on my nerves. I found her to be a little oblivious to her surroundings. I wasn’t quite able to connect to her to be frank.

Up to this point, I’ve been mentioning the issues I had with this book. But it has its good points. I for one appreciated the added mystery to the storyline. I liked that it wasn’t just a contemporary about two characters and how they got together. This book had depth and I enjoyed that.

On top of that, I liked how this book is about the main character having to overcome her guilt and regrets. It’s something, I think, everyone has to go through someday so it made the story more believable and real.

For the most part, I liked and disliked this book. It was worth a read. It was a very quick read. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys new adult contemporary.
