Jade

Jade’s young life was tough. After her mother died during childbirth and her father could no longer look after her, she was placed in foster care where she stayed for the next ten years. She grew up feeling unloved and unwanted as she was passed around from one screwed up home to the next.

Things began to look up for her when she was adopted by a wealthy socialite at the age of eleven. Sometimes though, things aren’t always what they seem. Jade didn’t know it at the time, but her new adoptive mother had big plans for her, and spent the next seven years grooming Jade for that role.

Jade learnt early in life that she couldn’t rely on anyone but herself. Instead of letting her circumstances beat her, she took all the negatives she’d been dealt, and used them to her advantage. She grew up to be a strong, successful, determined and independent woman. She was a loner by choice.

The only thing lacking in her life was companionship and love. She’d never experienced it, so she didn’t know what she was missing, until she had a one-night-stand with a handsome stranger. One night, that would change everything.

Brock

Brock grew up privileged. He had everything going for him. Money, looks, charm, success and an endless array of beautiful women. He wasn’t interested in commitment. To him women were easy. They practically threw themselves at his feet. All they wanted was to do something nobody had ever managed before. Snare the hot, rich bachelor.

Then he met Jade. She was like a breath of fresh air. A challenge. Nothing like the women he was used too. Their one night together ignited something within him. A burning desire to own her, possess her, but Jade had other plans. Nobody says no to Brock Weston, nobody.

He’s left wondering about a woman he knows he can never have. But, when fate brings them together again, will he get what he wants? Will he be able to claim the unattainable? Or will her secrets crush him, and destroy any chance they have of being together?

Review by: Leeann

So if you are looking for a book that takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride and has you questioning everything you
believed about humanity, the difference between right and wrong, and life in general then this is the book for you.
This book if fast paced & takes you on one hell of a journey.
The characters are complex and surprising in every sense. Just when you think you get them, Brock in particular, something changes & you
realise you were way off the mark. Jade comes across as naive and innocent however, in her short tumultuous life she has learned about survival
and how to look after herself.
Rupert, god love him, is a complete enigma. You will never guess who he is or why he is there.

There were many times, particularly in the beginning of the book where I was seriously thing ‘what the actual f***?’. Then I had to remind myself this is a work of fiction,
It is not real. Some of the story was shocking. To think someone would not only do this, but get away with it too!
This book is full of twists and turns as well as lots of secrets. When secrets come out they can make or break a person. Both Brock, Jade and Rupert
discover just how far some secrets go and that recovering from them takes time, strength & love.

What I love with this book is that throughout it all, Brock never once falters. He stands by Jade no matter what. When he is faced with his own tragedy
& tries to pull away, she goes to him no questions asked. The dynamic of Brocks mother and brother together with Rupert & Jades friend Theo makes for an interesting
but unconditionally loving family that just proves not all family has to be blood to be binding.

I was so caught up in this book that the time I spent reading it just disappeared and before I knew it I was at the end & left wanting more. I really did not want it to end.

J.L Perry has certainly earned every one of her 5 star reviews for this book. It is outstanding & is a story that will stay with you for a long, long time. I would recommend
It to anyone that loves to read books that wrap you up from start to finish and has you feeling every emotion the characters are feeling so much so that you often
find yourself reaching for the tissues or having a little giggle at something the characters say or do.  I seriously cannot say enough good things about this book!!

Review by: Kim

This book will break your heart, make you angry, make you HOT and give you a reason to smile. Sometimes all on the same page.
JL Perry is amazing and this book once again shows us why she's quickly climbing to the top of everyone's favorite author list.
Jade made my heart hurt throughout most of this book. Her struggle for a good life from the moment she was born was very real and sometimes hard to read. And then she crashed into a hard, hunky male.
Brock didn't strike me as the typical alpha male. Oh, he has his moments, but his complete fascination with Jade made him sweet and vulnerable and those qualities in him made me love him.
JL Perry makes her bad guys really bad and the evil in this book is nothing but deserving of the hate we feel.
Hooker is an amazing tale of one woman's rise from a world that keeps her real spirit hidden. With the love and caring from a man who makes her his world...She blooms.

Trailer

Excerpt

After tightening the ribbon, I admire my ensemble in the mirror. It looks gorgeous.

‘Jade,’ I hear Brock call softly, after knocking on the cubicle door.

‘Yes.’

‘Can I see now?’

The hopefulness in his voice brings a smile to my face again. Without replying, I unlock and open the door slightly. He pops his head in and the look on his face does something to me. I’m so lost in it, I don’t even realise when he pushes the door open further, worming his way inside and turning the latch to relock it.

‘What are you doing?’ I whisper.

‘Sweet Jesus,’ is all he says as his arms wrap around my waist, drawing my body towards his. ‘You look incredible. We’re definitely buying this.’

‘You like?’ I ask as he gropes at my arse.

‘I fucking love. Turn around.’

I do as he asks.

‘Christ,’ he groans as his fingers skim up the outside of my legs until they’re resting on my hips. In the reflection, I see his eyes planted firmly on my behind. He takes a step forward, rubbing his body against mine. When his gaze meets mine in the mirror there’s pure desire in his eyes. Nobody has ever looked at me the way he does. Nobody.

His hands encircle my waist as he draws me closer, pressing into my back. ‘What are you doing to me?’ he murmurs as his lips graze over my shoulder. I have no idea, but I’m pretty sure it’s the same thing he’s doing to me.

I moan softly, resting my head against his chest while his mouth trails a path up my neck. One of his hands palm my breast through the corset, and the other moves down between my legs. I’m so lost in his touch that I totally forget we’re still in the dressing room at the lingerie store.

I’m pulled back into reality when I hear the tearing of fabric. ‘Brock,’ I say, when my eyes fly open to see him shoving the now ruined panties I was just wearing into his pocket. ‘I haven’t even paid for them yet.’

‘Shhh,’ he whispers in my ear as the hand on my breast moves up to cover my mouth. ‘I’m going to fuck you now. I can’t wait another second.’ My eyes widen at his comment. Has he lost his mind? We can’t have sex in here. I see his other hand in the reflection of the mirror disappear behind me and the distinct sound of a zipper rings out in the silence that has now fallen over us.

My stance widens automatically. My head knows what we’re about to do is wrong, but apparently my vagina didn’t get that memo.

‘Do you even realise how sexy you are?’ he whispers as his hand finds its way between my legs again.

‘Mmmm,’ I moan into the palm of his hand, my body trembling with anticipation.

‘I’ll remove my hand if you promise to be quiet. Okay?’

I nod. I still can’t believe we’re going to do this.

‘Place your hands on the mirror,’ he demands. I do exactly as he asks. It’s ironic how I’ve hated being controlled my entire life, yet I have no qualms about following his orders. The way Brock takes control is sexy.

He rubs his cock between my legs as I push my hips towards him. I’m no longer concerned about what we’re doing. I want to feel him inside me.

I bite down on my lip when he slides inside me, trying hard not to make a noise.

‘Christ you feel amazing,’ he breathes as he pulls out slightly before pushing all the way back in.

‘Oh god.’ One of his hands grasps my hip, holding me in place, while the other tugs on my hair, tilting my head back so his mouth can cover mine.

‘I said no noise.’

My eyes roll back in my head as he deepens the kiss before picking up the pace. He slams into me in short, hard strokes. It feels incredible. The risk of the sales assistant discovering us only seems to heighten the experience.

It doesn’t take long for him to have me on the edge. ‘I’m … I’m,’ is all I get to say before we’re interrupted.

‘Is everything all right in there?’ I hear the skanky sales assistant ask. Shit. There’s no holding back. I’m coming whether I like it or not.

‘Ahh,’ I moan into Brock’s mouth as my body starts to shudder and my orgasm hits me full force. His hand quickly moves from my hip, snaking around my waist, using his strength to hold me up. When he pulls out of the kiss, I see a smile tug at his lips as his eyes lock with mine in the mirror.

‘We’re fine,’ he says in a breathless tone that has him sounding like he’s just run a damn marathon.
I see his eyes clench shut as his movements become more desperate. I can feel my vagina still pulsing around him and I know he’s about to come as well. Shit, could his timing be any worse?

Review by: Leeann

So if you like to read a book with lots and lots and lots of sex scenes then this is for you.
While I was reading this, the phrase that kept coming to my mind was ‘Oh, what a tangled web we weave. When first we practise to deceive!’

So we have poor old Foster who has just finished a 5 year stint in prison & is just looking to start his life fresh & right some wrongs.
Then we have the wronged, Addison, who is out for revenge.

Form their 1st meeting the chemistry was lit and things were never going to be the same. The course of starting over changed and the thirst
for revenge was dulled. These two are literally like fire and ice.
At times I found Addison to be a bit wishy washy. The only time she really knew what she wanted was in the bedroom.. or in the pool.. or the kitchen etc.
Whereas once Foster decided he wanted Addison in his life he gave their relationship 100% and held nothing back. The dynamic between the two was interesting &
for most of the book I really didn’t think they were going to get their HEA.

Overall this would make a good quick holiday read. It was a little bit slow in the beginning but picked up pace at around the halfway mark and continued at
a steady pace through to the end.

What man doesn’t like to be wanted?

Well, not if you’re me and you’ve just done a stint in jail for a crime you didn’t commit.

The press and social media have crucified me. People hate my guts. Nobody believes that I’m innocent.

Especially the woman who is determined to put me back behind bars because I destroyed her family. She’s hell bent on making me pay for my sins.

I’m starting a new life and putting all that crap behind me.

Except that Addison James won’t let me. She worms her way into my life and my bed until she’s under my skin and I just can’t shake her.

I’m Foster Cruise.

I’m wanted.

Becca:
I broke up with Trip four months ago. But with the exception of my parents, I haven’t told anyone why. Not my friends, not my little sister, not even Asher.

Asher:
I’ve been missing my best friend every day for the last nine months. Even though Becca broke up with Trip months ago, she’s still been distant, even when we’re in the same room.

Trip:
She thinks she can break up with me and then go on a “family” vacation with him? I’m going to prove to both of them that she never should have left me.

Review by: Leeann

Well it is not often that you read a debut novel and find it worthy of 5 stars, but that is what has happened with this book.
And let me tell you it is worth every single one of those 5 stars.
This is a story about a young girl, Becca, who's life spirals out of control quicker that she realizes and, just when she starts to wise up to what has happened, things go from bad to worse.

Her best friend Asher knows there is something seriously wrong, he just has no idea just how out of control things had become.

This is a book that you will start to read and not want to put it down until you get to the very end. It is compelling,  moving and emotional. And it also makes you realize as a parent that these things can go on right under your nose and you don't always see it.

In saying all of that this is also a story of a young woman who is rediscovering who she is and what she wants. She is rebuilding her relationships that had fallen by the wayside during the time she was in her crappy relationship and she is finally seeing things for what they are.
The only trouble is that in doing so, she has potentially placed herself, Asher and their families in danger.

Author Ashley Bodette has taken an extremely serious and common issue and written a story around it in a way that has the potential to open the minds of anyone that chooses to read it. She has written  is based on her own reality (see the aknowledgements section) and because of that it is an accurate and realistic portrayal of a young girl in this situation.

It would be great if all parents and high school students could read this book. It is a huge issue and not one that is often freely discussed. This book would be a great starting point to get these much needed conversations started!

This story was wonderful. I loved the storyline and the characters. The story deals with some very real, very emotional problems. It is very well researched and written. Becca and Asher will pull you in immediately. The relationship that they have is incredible. They both have very high values and stick to their guns. Becca is slowly coming back to herself and the strong woman she was destined to be. Asher is by her side and helps her instead of trying to solve the problems for her. I can relate to Becca and admire her for her courage. She did what it is so hard for others to do. Asher has quickly placed himself in my heart. He is an amazing man who is not afraid to let Becca shine. This was an incredible first book for Ashley and I am very glad I had the privilege to read it! I can’t wait to see what you have in store next!

For a debut novel this author has potential. It was not a bad start and it dealt with a subject matter that could be difficult to acknowledged in a relationship let alone people that you would prefer not anyone knowing or getting involved. This 3.5 stars read will make you aware of what exists in some relationships today.

Although I was not reacting to the characters of Becca, Asher, and Trip as I would have liked (it could have been the timeline of events or it could be how quick things progressed over a family trip); it did have some moments that will have you feeling irate, frustrated, and seeing the chemistry between friends which moved the story right along.
